The SGR train service will begin operations soon...Abiria watakiwa kulipa kati ya shilingi mia tano na shilingi mia nane za Kenya...hii ni kama TSH 11,000 na TSH 17,000...
On May 31st, the president will take a ride to officially open the multi-billion dollar project. It’s not yet clear whether the service will be available for Kenyans immediately after that but we’ll have to adopt a wait and see approach.

An SGR locomotive is expected to take 4 hours to travel between Nairobi and Mombasa.

Buses take about 9 or 8 hours while old trains take nearly 12 hours.

Passengers will pay fares of between Kes.500 and Kes.800 for a one-way trip depending on where they are seating.

Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia told the Sunday Nation.
However, these charges will only apply for 6 months. Later on, they will later be adjusted to match market prices. So it seems like the good times will only last a short while.
The China Road and Bridge Corporation (CRBC) had initially proposed to charge Kes.4,500.
However, the government rejected this idea, saying it was not feasible. But seriously, who would have paid Ksh 4500 for that?
In total, there are 40 coaches. Each one has a capacity of 118 passengers in economy class, 72 people in business class, and 44 in first-class.

And if you aren’t living in Nairobi or Mombasa, there is no need to worry. There is a second category called the “County train” which will be making a stop at each of the seven intermediate stations at Mariakani, Miaseny, Voi, Mtito Andei, Kibwezi, Emali and Athi River on its way to either destination to allow residents of the said areas access train transport services.

Hizi ni official prices za abiria...for the first six months of operation...I think the thread clearly states this...later, the prices will be adjusted to meet market demands...did you see this hapo juu???? ama ni kupayuka tu...Cargo hata haijatajwa pale juu sijui una washwa na nini?
