Construction of the long-delayed new Parliamentary Chambers is expected to be completed by June 30, 2027, after contractor ROKO Construction Company committed in writing to meet the deadline.

Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth told Parliament last week that the Parliamentary Commission had set the firm completion date, giving the contractor about 10 months to finish the project.

The deadline was set after the Commission inspected the construction site on August 26, 2026, and found that the project had been delayed by structural design changes and cash-flow challenges faced by the contractor.

ROKO officials who attended the Commission meeting reportedly committed in writing to complete the works within the new timeframe, with Parliament pledging to closely monitor progress.

“The completion of the Chamber shall be achieved by June 30th, 2027. The contractor has made a commitment in writing, and we shall closely monitor execution,” Oboth said.

The Speaker warned that Parliament would not tolerate further delays on the project, which has faced repeated setbacks.
