Ubongo reaches over 27 million kids across Africa through accessible technologies like TV, radio, and mobile phones. Our show’s Ubongo Kids and Akili and Me currently air in 23 countries across Africa, in Swahili, English, French, Kinyarwanda, Kikuyu, Luo, Yoruba, Hausa, Chichewa, and Juba Arabic.

Job Position: We are looking for a RADIO PRODUCER. Working at Ubongo won’t be easy, but it will challenge and excite you with lots of responsibilities, plenty of fun, and give you the opportunity to impact the lives of millions of kids every day.

We’re looking for a dynamic, creative and flexible RADIO PRODUCER to expand and improve our RADIO CONTENT. You’ll work closely with our CREATIVE PRODUCER and PRE PRODUCTION COORDINATOR

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Lead the production of radio content

Main Activities:

Research and be informed on the radio trends for children content and see how to apply these trends on our radio production.

Work closely with the creative producer and pre production coordinator to conceptualise and establish radio format.

Work closely with the creative producer and pre production coordinator to co-write and edit radio scripts that are both educational and entertaining.

Using analytics and data to shape radio content decision-making.

Work closely with the creative producer to oversee the presentation of radio content across different stages of production.

2. Capacity building for writers and sound engineers

Main Activities:


Organise and conduct capacity building training for writers on writing for radio.

Organise and conduct capacity building training for sound engineers on effective ways to produce radio content at the studio level.

REQUIREMENT:KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE and QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A degree in mass communication or any related field.
  • Prior extensive experience with radio production.
  • Competent in audio mixing, automation, sound design, foley recording and music production.
  • Creativity and excellent attention to detail.
  • Excellent hearing and manual dexterity.
  • Proven experience in sound engineering, music mixing and audio production.
  • Ability to use Logic Pro X software.
  • Good at dealing with ambiguity and able to figure things out for yourself
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Honesty, trustworthy, transparent and conscientious
  • Able to speak and work in both English and Kiswahili
  • Have a passion for UBONGO’s vision of using media to transform education in Africa.
