R&D Needs to Report to the Chief Customer Officer (CCO) for Company to be Competitive

Engineers in designing process, like to pack lots of features into products, that can cause a lot of suffering to customers due to feature fatigue, which can affect the future sales.
Companies need to make sure that product decisions reflect real and genuine customer's need. This can be achieved only by bringing customer into the design process. Therefore to Integrate R&D and marketing is a good thing to achieve this.
There are some companies that have started to apply this way, and a good thing is that, they are doing better in the market.

BETA Lab is a NOKIA's innovation lab that bring together product's users and product's developers to discuss features that need to be incorporated in product designing stage. Although success in the market is contributed by various factors, this way of bringing together product users and developers is among the factors which has been highly escalating NOKIA'S market share.

Companies should move from the old world whereby R&D are driven by new product development, to the world where R&D provides a way for establishing long term customer relationship.
