Uganda Police Force spokesperson ACP Kituuma Rusoke and regional security teams have warned Subaru drivers and other motorists against reckless driving, excessive speeding and noise pollution caused by modified exhaust systems.
“Subaru drivers misuse our roads, depict lawlessness, destroy infrastructure and test whether laws exist.”
The warnings come amid renewed enforcement targeting motorists whose driving behaviour and modified vehicles have become a public nuisance.
In August, police in the Ssezibwa Region launched a targeted operation in Lugazi Municipality, Buikwe District, following complaints over excessive noise from modified exhaust systems.
Some drivers had fitted “pop and bang” exhausts designed to produce loud, explosive sounds resembling gunshots, causing pancic and disturbing residents. Several vehicles were impounded during the operation.
Police have also repeatedly cautioned motorists against dangerous high-speed manoeuvres and aggressive driving, particularly along major highways such as the Kampala–Jinja Highway.
