Police spokesperson ASP Kituuma Rusooke has warned people who siphon fuel from vehicles, particularly those stuck in traffic jams, about the risk of fires and loss of life.
Rusooke said the practice is common in several areas and poses a serious danger because fuel is highly flammable. He warned that storing siphoned fuel inside homes, especially near charcoal stoves and other sources of fire, could lead to deadly incidents.
He urged the public to stop the practice, cautioning that those involved risk losing their lives and endangering other household members.
“Those people down there should take care, because they are really playing with fire,” Rusooke said.
