The National Police Service continues to sustain operations aimed at curbing the production and distribution of illicit brews and hard drugs across the country. Recent coordinated crackdowns in Kisumu and Nakuru Counties highlight ongoing efforts to disrupt illegal brewing networks and protect public health and safety.
Yesterday, officers from Kisumu Central Police Station conducted patrols within Kisumu Municipality, where they successfully identified and dismantled two chang'aa brewing sites. At the first site, approximately 400 litres of kangara were recovered, concealed in a thicket and intended for the distillation of chang'aa.
At the second site, officers recovered a larger consignment of 1,700 litres of kangara, along with three metal drums actively being used in the distillation process.
In a similar operation conducted the same day in Nakuru County, officers from Mau Summit Police Station in Kuresoi North Sub-County, working closely with members of the community policing unit, carried out a targeted raid at Kuwait Stream, where they discovered and destroyed 800 litres of kangara that had been hidden in bushes along the stream.
In Vihiga County, officers intercepted 40 litres of suspected chang'aa that was being transported, preventing its distribution within the region.
These operations demonstrate a consistent and coordinated enforcement strategy characterised by proactive patrols, community collaboration, and decisive action to dismantle illicit brewing activities.
