COMMANDANT Ranson Lolmodooni is set to retire after a 42-year career in the National Police Service, closing a long and steady rise through key command and administrative roles in Kenya’s security apparatus.
He has previously served in a series of senior positions, including Officer in Charge of Vice President’s Security under the Presidential Escort Unit, Staff Officer Administration, and Officer Commanding Station at Kapskwony Police Station. He later held senior county and sub-county commands in Gucha, Masaba (Kisii), Githunguri (Kiambu), and Kaloleni (Kilifi), where he was involved in operations targeting organised crime and MRC-linked activities along the Coast.
His career also included roles as Deputy Director of National Police Reserve, Staff Officer Personnel at Police Headquarters, County Police Commander in Kisumu and Garissa, and General Staffing Officer within the GSU before rising to become GSU Commandant in 2024, a position he held until his retirement in 2026 after service spanning 1984–2026.
During his earlier service, Lolmodooni also served as head of security to the late former Vice President George Saitoti, a role that placed him at the centre of high-level state protection and national security operations during Saitoti’s tenure in government.
