The original Ronaldo, one of the best scorers in soccer history, retired on Feb. 14, 2011. At 34, Ronaldo walks away from soccer with the most goals scored all time in the FIFA World Cup, two World Cup titles and as a three-time FIFA player of the year.

1996




Ronaldo presents his FC Barcelona jersey to fellow Brazilian Alex Barros at the Montmelo circuit outside Barcelone in 1996. This was only the beginning of Ronaldo's interest in racing. Since 2005, Ronaldo has been the co-owner of A-1 Team Brazil, a Brazilian Grand Prix racing team. 1997

Ronaldo joined the Corinthians on March 4, 2009. The stint was the last professional team of his soccer career. After the Corinthians were eliminated from the 2011 Copa Libertadores de America, Ronaldo announced his retirement while citing nagging injuries that have stalled his career.


Ronaldo found himself in hot water after a prostitution scandal in 2008, and his opposing fans made sure he knew it. A Fluminese fan holds up a sign with the image of Andreia, a transvestite prostitute that Ronaldo unknowingly met at a nightclub in 2008. Ronaldo reportedly offered Andreia and two other prostitutes $600 to leave his company but they demanded $30,000 or else they would report him to the press.
