From what I've seen, there is not a free pdf viewer out there. The workaround is to email the pdf's to yourself. You can view them if they are email attachments, but not if they're stored in memory or the SD card. Seems weird. I'm sure you already know about
Docs to Go which you can purchase. It will allow pdf viewing, text search and a couple of other things. There is a 30 day trial so if you want to try it out and see if its worth it you can do that.
