Onyango Oloo, who was TNA secretary general, has ditched Jubilee Party for ODM.

He did not reveal his reasons but sources said TNA's dissolution for the Jubilee merger made things difficult for him.

Oloo told the Star on Tuesday that he was finalising talks with leaders of the party under Raila Odinga's Cord coalition.

"We have had a series of consultative meetings. Soon, we shall make a formal announcement," he said.

Oloo played a key role in President Uhuru Kenyatta's presidential campaign in 2013.

He said he will move from Uhuru's party with several other officials.

It was alleged that Oloo pulled one-man shows during his tenure as TNA secretary general but that his rivals in Jubilee had pledged to prevent this.

"For now I will not comment on the matter," he said.

More than 100 Jubilee members and officials, led by former TNA secretary general Onyango Oloo, have defected to ODM.

The members drawn from eight counties accused Jubilee of betrayal and sidelining them after affiliates merged into the Jubilee Party. Oloo yesterday said his integrity and ideologies do not allow him to continue working with JP. He said the promises made to members and Kenyans have not been fulfilled, terming this a betrayal.

Former Nyanza TNA regional coordinator Midigo Juma and former chairmen Desmond Shiraka (Kakamega), Titus Achar (Kisumu), Daniel Chebi (Baringo) and Meshack Oswago (Migori) were among the defectors. Oloo said they have decided wisely to join ODM under Cord to form the next government. “We are looking for a home that will liberate Kenyans from the continued suffering and intimidation,” he said.

Oloo said more defectors will be witnessed across the country from Jubilee to ODM. He said the Raila Odinga-led party has the capacity to rescue Kenyans from political conmanship. “We have 28 counties whose former TNA officials and Jubilee members have expressed their interest to join ODM. I can tell for sure that all will be in our new home,” Oloo said.

He said he has the ‘keys” to the counties where former TNA officials are disappointed and all will not hesitate to work with Raila. “Today is just a rehearsal and more are yet to be seen. I’m the one who had the TNA structures and strategies. We’re going to make big history in the country,” Oloo said.

He said he will work day and night to send Raila to State House on August 8. Oloo said he will not rest until he marshals 28 counties, which are behind him, to rescue Kenyans from bad governance and corruption. “I take responsibility as I led you to TNA. Every action has got consequences and we’re ready to pay for the consequence. In the wild, there are animals that hunt and there are those who eat what others have hunted,” he said. “The hyenas that were not there have come and taken over everything from us. We have the skills and we’re going to hunt again and bring back that animal.”

Oloo said the URP brigade took control of JP, alienating President Uhuru Kenyatta’s people, the same way it had happened in government. “You can do business with a thief or a witch and still come out clean. But the moment you marry a thief or a witch, then you become one.”

I've come with intelligence on Jubilee, Onyango Oloo tells ODM

Onyango Oloo, who has been President Uhuru Kenyatta's point-man in Nyanza, joined ODM Wednesday with a promise to help party leader Raila Odinga win the coming elections.

Mr Oloo, who was the secretary general of the defunct The National Alliance Party (TNA), which Uhuru used to get to power in 2013, said he would reveal Jubilee's secrets which he said will boost Raila's State House bid.

He sensationally claimed President Kenyatta did not win the 2013 General Election but rigged his way to power even as Raila received him in Kisumu.

"It was very easy to steal votes in areas where ODM was not active," Oloo said as he joined the party he discredited for many years.

Oloo said he felt betrayed by the Government he described as 'a den of thieves and ethnic chauvinists'.

Even though his move to ODM has been dismissed as inconsequential as TNA, whose secretariat he headed, no longer exists and Raila already commands the support of Nyanza where he hails from, Oloo insisted he did not come empty-handed.

He told Raila he had gathered 'enough intelligence' during his time in TNA as well as Jubilee Party, which would help the Opposition chief clinch power.

Oloo referred to himself as the Biblical prodigal son who had run away from home but later returned and was received by the father.

"I have every detail on how Uhuru took power and their plans to retain power this year. I know everything that went wrong for Raila in 2013, he would be president today," Oloo said.

A section of ODM supporters, unhappy with Oloo's move to join the party, attempted to block him from accessing the podium at Jomo Kenyatta Sports ground where Raila was addressing a rally.

Raila had to pause his speech and intervene for Oloo to be allowed on the dais.

"I am in ODM to stay. The passion I used to send Raila to the Opposition in 2013 is the same passion I will use to send Uhuru to the same opposition," said Oloo.

While receiving him to the party, Raila said: "Oloo had gone to the side of our enemies but has seen the light. I urge others to follow suit as the door is still open."

Before meeting Raila, Oloo met over 50 former TNA officials from Kisumu, Siaya, Migori, Homa Bay, Baringo and Kakamega counties where they all declared they will throw their weight behind Raila ahead of the August 8 elections.

The former officials accused President Kenyatta's team of 'conmanship' by pushing out TNA's founding and branch officials during the formation of Jubilee Party.

Oloo singled out Deputy President William Ruto who he said was the reason former TNA officials from 28 other counties were on their way to ODM.

He said he regretted approving the merger that saw TNA, Ruto's United Republican Party (URP) and a host of other smaller parties, a move he said had caused more harm than good for Uhuru in his re-election bid.

Oloo said most of the ills in the Jubilee government, including massive corruption, originated from the DP's side.

"You can do business with a witch or a thief and come out clean, but the moment you marry a witch or a thief, you also become one," said Oloo.

Other than Oloo, former TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja, a key man in President Kenyatta's election, was also left out in the new Jubilee line-up.
