Haya twende kazini...

Two cups of tea and two cups of coffee cost £10 in total.

Two cups of tea and one cup of coffee cost £7

What is the price of one cup of tea?

What is the price of one cup of tea?
Let's solve this step by step.

Let:

  • T = price of one cup of tea
  • C = price of one cup of coffee

We are given:

Step 1: Subtract Equation (2) from Equation (1)

(2T + 2C) - (2T + C) = 10 - 7

2T + 2C - 2T - C = 3

C = 3

Step 2: Substitute into Equation (2)

2T + 3 = 7

2T = 4

T = 2

✅ Final Answer:

The price of one cup of tea is £2.

Haya twende kazini...

Two cups of tea and two cups of coffee cost £10 in total.

Two cups of tea and one cup of coffee cost £7

What is the price of one cup of tea?
Let Tea represented by letter T and Coffee by letter C
2T + 2C=£10 ------- (eq 1)
2T + 1C = £7------- (eq 2)
Since the coefficient of T is same directly perform substraction eq 1 - eq 2
(2T + 2C=£10)-(2T + 1C = £7)
After substract the two equation we obtain the value of C= £3
SUbstitute the value of C into either equation 1 or 2 to obtain the value of T
From eq 1, 2T + 2C=£10
2T + (2×3)=10
2T +6=10
2T=10-6
2T=4 Divide by 2 both sides
T = 2 Therefore the price of one cup of Tea is £ 2
