The National Drug Authority (NDA) has warned Ugandans against consuming an illegal concoction marketed as an energy drink under the name “Boisson Energétique Très Puissante.”
NDA spokesperson Abiaz Rwamwiri said laboratory tests conducted by the authority found that the product, believed to originate from Burundi, had been adulterated with sildenafil.
Sildenafil is an active pharmaceutical ingredient used in prescription erectile dysfunction medicines such as Viagra.
Rwamwiri warned that consuming the unregulated product could pose health risks, including hypertension and dizziness.
