The National Drug Authority (NDA) has warned Ugandans against consuming an illegal concoction marketed as an energy drink under the name “Boisson Energétique Très Puissante.”
NDA spokesperson Abiaz Rwamwiri said laboratory analyses conducted by the authority found that the product is adulterated with sildenafil, an active pharmaceutical ingredient used in prescription erectile dysfunction medicines such as Viagra.
According to Rwamwiri, the product is believed to originate from Burundi and is being marketed as an energy drink despite containing the pharmaceutical ingredient.
He warned that consuming the product could pose health risks, including hypertension and dizziness.
The NDA has urged the public not to consume the product and to report any suspected sale or distribution of the illegal concoction to the authorities.
