President Yoweri Museveni turned 82 on September 15, with supporters across the country planning a major celebration to mark the milestone.
The main birthday festivities are scheduled for Saturday, September 19, at the Kololo Independence Grounds, under preparations led by Hadija Namyalo Uzeiye from the Office of the National Chairman of the NRM.
Ahead of the main event, the President’s birthday was marked on Tuesday with prayers and a pre-birthday celebration at the NRM National Chairman’s Office in Kyambogo. The gathering brought together politicians, religious leaders, supporters, liberation war veterans and members of the public.
Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja, who represented Museveni, joined other leaders in wishing the President a happy birthday and highlighting his contribution to Uganda.
Namyalo called on Ugandans to join the celebrations at Kololo, saying the event would be held in honour of Museveni’s 82nd birthday.
The September 19 celebrations will also bring together youth groups and other supporters. A separate youth-led event at Kololo has been organised under the theme “A Legacy That Inspires Generations: Empowering Africa’s Youth for the Next Phase of the Pan-African Revolution.”
