Buzaaya County MP Mugabi Muzaale Martin Kisule has questioned investment deals where the government provides most of the capital but receives a small share of ownership.

Speaking in Parliament on October 7, Kisule cited an example where the government could invest up to Shs100 billion, while a private investor contributes about Shs5 billion but gets the majority of the shares.

He said the government could end up with as little as 5 percent ownership despite providing most of the funding.

“This is not realistic,” Kisule said, calling for closer scrutiny of such investment arrangements to ensure public funds deliver value to taxpayers.
