Mongolia is a country that is not exactly at the heart of any kind of conflict.
If you have heard of country, then it is probably from a book on history. If we go back, a couple of centuries we were quite the influential warriors. History has ambivalent opinions about us, but, regardless of how powerful we were in the past, now we are not very relevant anymore.
There is really no reason for Mongolia to be on news. Mongolia is a landlocked country in Central Asia.
It only borders with Russia and China. While you may have heard of Russia and China, all the time, Mongolia remains forgotten.
Between the two global superpowers, it is hard to imagine that there would be any international conflict. Indeed, it doesn’t have any transnational or military conflict.
So, to put it simply, Mongolia is too peaceful to be featured in the news.
The main reason is that Mongolia is not playing any significant role in the international arena.
Secondly, with its tiny population of no more than 3.1 million Mongolia doesn't represent a significant market to be of keen interest to the global community.
The only reason of interest to global community might be its mineral resources. In addition due to its remoteness, Mongolia is not well exposed to the global communities.
Many people in the West for instance even don't know where Mongolia is situated geographically on the globe.
So reporters when they write news often follow the stereotypical pattern, i.e. to ignore Mongolia due to its insignificance to the global communities.
