Hii mishahara si ya kawaida, actually iko just above the real poverty line ya US.

na shahada zangu mbili tanzania napata a small fraction of a floor sander in the states!!! duh!

Thats where you are wrong, it is not about direct exchange.

Kuna mghana mmoja kaamua kurudi kwao, ameacha a lucrative career in finance Uingereza, lakini sasa ingawa amepunguza mshahara wake a little bit monetarily, lakini ana beachhouse, anaweza kufanya kazi kutoka nyumbani, ana heshima katika jamii yake etc.

$ 1 US unanunua two sticks of gum, Tanzania unapata lunch ya nguvu, kwa hiyo ku compare in dollar terms bila kufanya comparison ya purchasing power parity ni makosa.

Mimi siongei lunch ya hoteli ya kitalii, naongea a reasonably filling plate of rice, how much is that nowadays?

Alternatively, how much is a stick of gum and how many can you get for 1300?

Nilikuwa huko karibuni. Mambo yamebadilika sana. You can get a stick of gum for about 1000 Tsh/approx. 1 US$. Lunch ya kawaida mitaani kwa about 5 US$

Hiyo hela ndani ya US unaishi by pay check to pay check. Ni mishahara midogo sana. Kuishi vizuri ndani ya US kwa family of two you need at least $80,000 a year family 4 at least $95,000.

Tofautisha real poverty line na government figures.I am not talking government figures, toka lini government figures zikakupa an acurate picture?
