Florian Kaijage

Sayari Women yashika usukani Dar

Vurugu Libya kuikosesha uenyeji U-20 Afrika Send to a friend Friday, 25 February 2011 21:11

KHARTOUM, Sudan

Yanga waanza kulipa deni kugomboa basi Send to a friend Friday, 25 February 2011 21:08

Clara Alphonce

Glazers: United 'not for sale'

Updated Feb 25, 2011 8:00 AM ET
The Glazer family have confirmed their commitment to Manchester United and insist they have no interest in selling the club.
United's owners made a short statement to accompany the release of second quarter financial results, in response to growing speculation about a massive offer for the club from the Qatar Royal Family.

It has always been stressed the Glazers view their United status as long-term, a point they are keen to emphasise.
"The board notes recent press speculation regarding a possible bid for Manchester United," said the statement.
"The owners remain fully committed to their long-term ownership of the club.
"No discussions have taken place, Manchester United is not for sale and the owners will not entertain any offers."
Whether the statement has any effect remains to be seen. A similar message accompanied their first quarter results but had little impact.
Even a statement from the Qatar Holdings investment vehicle last week insisting there were no plans to launch a buy-out failed to halt the rising price of the bonds issued by United to raise £500million.
It is widely assumed the Glazers would sell if they were offered an astronomical sum. A figure of £1.8billion has been mentioned, which would be more than twice the sum the Glazer family paid for the club when they launched their takeover in 2005.
However, as no one from the family has publicly discussed United since the immediate aftermath of the takeover, that situation cannot be taken for granted.
It also means mystery continues to surround exactly how they were able to pay off £220million in payment-in-kind notes earlier this year after already shelling out for punishing rates of interest.
Qatari involvement has been suggested, although earlier this week a United spokesman insisted the Glazers still owned 100% of the club.
The results themselves show United's debt has fallen from £512.5million 12 months ago to £489.4million on December 31, 2010.
Whilst matchday and media revenues have been relatively stagnant, there has been a massive increase in commercial revenues of 30.2%.

In the six months of the year so far, the commercial arm of the club has generated an incredible £50.4million, having secured a succession of new 'partnerships', the latest with global logistics company DHL.
It is now virtually certain United will this year become the first football club to crash through the £100million barrier for commercial revenue alone, emphasising the incredulity at reports from some quarters that revenue might actually be falling, specifically in shirt sales.
This surge in commercial revenues means that United's overall turnover has grown from growth £144.7million to £156.5million.
However, operating costs have also increased from £86million to £95.9million.
In buying back £24million of their own bonds - the reason for the reduction in debt - United feel the 8% saving in interest is a more prudent use of cash than leaving it as part of their bank reserves, which now stand at £134.5million.
However, the club reserves the right to put the bonds back on the market should they so wish.

The Reds have climbed to sixth in the Premier League after embarking on a six-game unbeaten run under caretaker manager Kenny Dalglish.
They remain eight points behind fourth-placed Tottenham but the Londoners' loss at Blackpool in midweek and Liverpool's improving form has kept hope of a late charge alive.
Kuyt said: "I think in the league this season, where so many teams are dropping points, a lot of things are possible.
"But we have to look to ourselves - we are unbeaten for a while now, let's have another three points on Sunday and then let's see where we are in five or six games.
"If we can close the gap a little bit more, who knows what is possible?
"It is always good when you see your rivals dropping points, but at the end of the day you have to bring the points in yourself.
"That is why the team was disappointed with the draw against Wigan, but now another game is coming up against West Ham and hopefully it will be another away win."
Liverpool will travel to Upton Park on Sunday fresh from securing a place in the last 16 of the Europa League last night.
Kuyt claimed the only goal of a testing and scrappy tie against Sparta Prague when he headed home with just five minutes of the second leg remaining at Anfield.
Dalglish's men will now play Portuguese side SC Braga for a place in the quarter-finals.
Holland international Kuyt, 30, said: "It was relief, but I thought we created enough chances to score a goal - we just waited too long.
"In the first half we created three good opportunities and the second half was the same, but I am very happy with another European goal. That is a great feeling.
"We worked hard to go through to the next round.
"It was a difficult game but we tried hard and created a few more chances than last week.
"But at the end of the day, it is the winning that counts."
After a dismal start to the campaign, the mood at Anfield has been transformed since Dalglish took over from Roy Hodgson seven weeks ago.
Performances may not have entirely convinced but results appear to be breeding confidence and club legend Dalglish has galvanised previously fractured support.
The home of the best LIVE soccer and rugby awaits at FoxSoccer.tv -- don't miss a second of the action.

Kuyt said: "The key is to be positive, train very hard every day and try to progress.
"We are not satisfied with that many clean sheets or games unbeaten - we just want to move forward and be better and better.
"I think it looks a lot more positive than a couple of months ago."
Kuyt is also pleased results have been delivered without some key players.
Talismanic captain Steven Gerrard has missed the last three games with a groin injury but could return at West Ham.
Striker Luis Suarez has been ineligible for Europe and Glen Johnson was also absent on Thursday night with an Achilles problem.
Record £35million signing Andy Carroll is making good progress in his recovery from a thigh strain but is still unlikely to make his much-anticipated debut at Upton Park.
Kuyt added: "That is a big plus. If you saw the team playing today without Andy Carroll, Luis Suarez, Steven Gerrard or Glen Johnson - four of our best players - it is important that the others can do a job as well."
Joe Cole also played for 90 minutes on Thursday night after starting for the first time under Dalglish.
The England midfielder has made little impact since his high-profile free transfer from Chelsea last summer due to injuries, suspension and poor form.
Kuyt said: "I think Joe is getting better and better.
"His problem is that he had a couple of injuries and then it is always difficult to come back, but the manager gave him a couple of minutes the other week in Prague and I thought last night he did very well.
"He was just a bit unlucky not to get his goal, but I'm sure if we keep going like this, it will be just a matter of time."

Sir Alex Ferguson has brushed aside John Terry's claim that Manchester United might buckle under the Premier League title pressure.
United head into Saturday's clash with Wigan at the DW Stadium knowing victory would allow them to open up a 15-point advantage over the current champions, who are not in action.

It would effectively mean Chelsea had to win when Ferguson's team head to Stamford Bridge on Tuesday to stand any chance of retaining their crown.
Little wonder Terry has tried to crank up the pressure on United this week.
Yet Ferguson, the master of mind games, flicked the accusation away curtly.
"You try things. We all try things," he said.
"But it won't be easy to come back from that kind of points deficit.
"I said some time ago, the team that is most consistent would win the league. That is why I stress that we have to keep our momentum going and get that consistency."
In truth, if there is one side unlikely to be affected by nerves at this stage of the season, it is United.
With 11 Premier League titles and two Champions Leagues the most notable achievements of Ferguson's stellar reign, the ground over the run-in has been covered countless times.
Even in years like last term, when they did not finish top, United have still been involved in the shake-up, gathering experience that can be put to good use at some point in the future.
And, rather than shy away from the blockbuster games, such as Chelsea, or Liverpool, where United visit next weekend, and Arsenal, their likely FA Cup sixth round opponents on March 12, Ferguson knows his players will be clamouring to be involved.
"My experience is that players want to play in all the games now," he said. "That is the problem.
"It is a nightmare picking teams at this stage of the season because you are leaving good players out of some very big games.
"This season I am helped a little bit because I have two or three injuries at the moment, so my options are condensed.
"All the players who are going to be playing all the time are delighted at that."
Of the seven senior players who missed Wednesday's drab draw in Marseille, only two, Michael Owen and Ryan Giggs, are in contention to return this weekend.
For Owen the news is particularly bright given the early feeling on a groin injury that forced him out of training a fortnight ago was that it could wreck his season and, effectively, his United career.
Thankfully for the 30-year-old, the damage was not too bad and Ferguson has already explained why his experience could be so crucial in the final weeks of the campaign.
"Michael is back training and could be available (against Wigan)," he said.

Of the rest, central defensive duo Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans are pencilled in to return at Anfield, meaning in-form Chris Smalling will keep his place in the Stamford Bridge hot-house after another outstanding display in Marseille.
Indeed, there are some who feel the 20-year-old would be unlucky to lose his place when Ferdinand does eventually return from a calf injury that flared up in the warm-up to United's shock defeat at Wolves earlier this month.
Ferguson does not share that view.
"Chris has done fantastic. But he is only 20," said the United boss.
"With Rio's experience, if he is fit and is ready for Liverpool, I would definitely play him. I am sure Chris would understand that."
United retain a 100% record against Wigan, a run that includes a 2006 Carling Cup final triumph, and it is unlikely such an imposing record will come to an end this weekend, especially as a stodgy pitch has been relaid since the Latics last used it.
"The new pitch improves the quality of the game, there is no question about that," said Ferguson.
"I believe it was very bad before but that they have done something about it is more in their interests than ours.
"If they thought it would help them to play us on a bad pitch, they would have left it.
"But they play in a particular way, where passing is important."

Since then though, he suffered a groin injury in training that it was feared could rule the 30-year-old out for an extended period, possibly the remainder of the season.
However, the damage was not as severe as had been depicted and Sir Alex Ferguson confirmed Owen is in contention for Saturday's encounter at the DW Stadium.
"Michael is back training and could be available on Saturday," said Ferguson.
Owen was one of seven senior players to miss Wednesday's Champions League draw with Marseille at the Stade Velodrome, when Ferguson admitted: "Nothing happened."
Of the rest, only veteran winger Ryan Giggs is in contention to play, either at Wigan or Tuesday's crucial clash with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
"The situation has not changed very much," admitted the Scot.
"We are trying to get Ryan fit."
It means Rio Ferdinand, who has not played since suffering a calf injury in the warm-up ahead of United's shock defeat at Wolves earlier this month, will sit out the Chelsea encounter.
"Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans will be available for next week, and that means the Liverpool game."
Ferguson might not be too concerned given Chris Smalling's recent outstanding performances, culminating in Wednesday night's effort when, for the sixth time in seven Champions League games this season, United kept a clean sheet.
Antonio Valencia, Park Ji-sung and Anderson will all be out for longer, presumably not until a potential FA Cup sixth round tie with Arsenal on March 12 at the earliest.
"It is difficult to assess Antonio Valencia because he is doing very well, he is in contact training now," said Ferguson.
"He has been taking part in all the sessions, so it is just that decision to play him in terms of his own confidence after such a long time out. It could be two weeks. We are hopeful.
"Park Ji-sung will be another two weeks and Anderson three, depending on how his progress goes because he is over in Portugal at the moment."

Ancelotti rules out Sturridge exit

Chelsea manager Carlo Ancelotti insists striker Daniel Sturridge will not be leaving the club permanently this summer.
The former Manchester City man is currently on loan at Bolton in a bid to gain more first-team experience.

Although Sturridge is down the Stamford Bridge pecking order, Ancelotti believes he has a big future with the Blues.
Sturridge has made a positive impact during his time with Bolton with three Premier League goals in as many games - and Ancelotti is delighted with his form.
"Every one of us is happy because Sturridge is our player and he is doing very well," he said.
"I hope he can score more and then in the summer he will come back.
"It was the right time to go and play on loan because he didn't have a lot of space here and he needed to play.
"He found a very good club who are playing good football. Sturridge can show his quality. I hope that he can continue."
Bolton boss Owen Coyle has naturally been delighted with Sturridge's impact and he accepts that Chelsea want to keep him.
"If Carlo and Chelsea feel his future is there then that doesn't surprise me because as I've said before he is a terrific player," said Coyle.
"He's not surprised me. That's why I brought him to the football club. I would say it's been all about giving these lads a platform to go and show their quality, and Daniel is now showing that.
"I've always had that belief in him, and that's why I did everything in my power to bring him to the club.
"There's no shame in not being in the Chelsea starting line-up with Torres, Anelka, Drogba, Malouda and Kalou - these are fantastic, top-class players in world football, not just in league football."

Roberto Mancini has told Manchester City's fans not to expect a three-prong attack too often despite it working in the win over Aris Salonika.
Carlos Tevez, Mario Balotelli and Edin Dzeko all started Thursday's 3-0 win over Aris as City booked a Europa League last-16 clash with Dynamo Kiev.

With David Silva involved as well, it provided a fearsome forward line the Greeks were incapable of resisting.
As City took their tally to 19 goals in their last five home games, Dzeko took the honours with a double inside the first 12 minutes.
However, just because it worked against Aris, Mancini does not think he can go for broke all the time.
"I thought we did well and in the first half I was very pleased," said the Italian.
"The problem comes when we don't have the ball. If we don't close down every situation, it could be difficult for us.
"We can play this formation but not often, unless we improve."
Dzeko's efforts doubled his previous tally since a £27million move from Wolfsburg last month.
The Bosnian should have had a hat-trick too after being sent through by Silva in the final minutes of the first half.
However, the chance went begging when Michail Sifakis robbed him as Dzeko attempted to go round the Aris goalkeeper, and it was left to Yaya Toure to complete the scoring with a deflected effort 15 minutes from time.
It means City now travel to Ukraine on March 10 for the first leg of a tie featuring legendary striker Andriy Shevchenko.
"They have a lot of experience," said Mancini.
"Dynamo have always played in the Champions League and we know this will be a very hard game because they are a good team.
"There is no point looking any further forward than that because there are still a lot of big teams left in this competition."
Mancini claimed Balotelli is still not firing at 100 per cent after a recent knee injury, although there were signs of improvement and the Italian did hit the post with one second-half effort.
However, with injuries already ravaging his squad, Mancini can only hope the hip problem that forced Vincent Kompany off before the break proves not to be too serious.
"We won't know what has happened until tomorrow when we see what the situation is," said Mancini.
"We have a lot of injuries at the moment, so I hope it is not serious and he will be available for Sunday."

Secondly on who did I hate? I questioned the "wold-class" strikers that are workt about 100mil, not really hate? thirdly, Dzeko didn't score, it was Silva? I dont even know why I bother honestly, and please don't give yourself that much credit, you get a rise out of me? hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. Lastly, I'm pretty sure it was your club that offered to make Rooney the highest paid player in the EPL earlier this year, so please shut up.

No one has any idiotic hate here man, your post is really filled with anger; I suggest you re-read. Based on your response, you just proved that it would have been a tie if Silva's goal had gone in, I don't care about how Dzeko's went it, it was a goal. Score would have been 2-1 or 2-2 if Rooney still would have made his lucky acrobatic strike.

Since when is Rooney the player we are trying to steal? That makes no sense, please only post if your going to say something that holds its' weight.

Thirdly, I am glad this gets a rise out of you! Means pure entertainment for me 🙂

hahahaha....lollolololol....hahahaha. you cant be serious? thats just dumb, what you are saying. Let's start with the fact hat besides for silva's 3rd min miss city didnt create a SINGLE real threat during the derby. secondly, silvas goal (if he wasn't in front oif Dzeko) would have never happened becuase Dzekos shot was going wide. so going by you IF City shouldn't have scored even one. Lastly, you can't lose AND/OR tie....chump

Lastly (plus one) if anyone is bitter it's you that the player you were trying to steal put all your hopes and dreams on the backburner with his "once-in-a-lifetime wonder-goal"....please post only when what you say is relevant and not just full of idiotic hate

NO shiet I would have liked to see a score of 8 or 9 to nil but so would you for every manure game. Chump. Your just still bitter that you barely beat city in the derby thanks to a once-in-a-lifetime wonder-goal by Rooney. If it werent for that, United would have lost and/or tied.

Pardew backs Ashley approach

Alan Pardew is confident Newcastle will spend much of the Andy Carroll money - but he accepts Mike Ashley will not invest any of his own money.
The £35million Newcastle received when Liverpool signed Carroll on transfer deadline day in January was a British transfer record, but the Magpies were left with no time to bring in a replacement.

Shefki Kuqi has since been brought in as a short-term stop gap, but many fans were disappointed the club did not have a contingency plan once Carroll departed.
Pardew, though, is confident that Ashley, who has not been a popular figure on Tyneside since taking over the club in 2007, will give him much of the money to spend on new players.
"I think Mike's made it clear that financial model that he's put in here is one where he doesn't have to go to his personal world to fund it," Pardew told Sky Sports News.
"While he is here, he wants to make it viable. We're going to use that money to build the club and have a team on the pitch.
"The most important thing is Mike's a supporter and he wants his team to be exciting and wants to get excited about the prospects of the club.
"So it's a two-fold situation here, and I'm leaning on his passion for the team to get more money out of him and use as much money as I can.
"The short of it is that we will be signing players in the summer for sure."
Newcastle sent out a statement of intent by securing midfielder Cheik Tiote on a six-and-a-half year contract on Friday, something Pardew feels is a big message to their supporters about the commitment of their owner.
"I think with any club, it's difficult to keep any players at whatever club you're at," he continued.
"We're trying to do the best we can and for our fans to have this player secured for this length of time gives us some insurance.
"And we're hoping that he (Tiote) continues to play at the level he's been at, he's been absolutely brilliant.
"To be fair to Mike he's gone and said 'lets's get this guy done,' because after Andy he wanted to make sure that he sent a message to the fans that he is here, he is keeping his eye firmly on the club and he wants to build the club. And this is a big step towards that.
"I think negotiating in the Premier League for any senior player is always complex and difficult.
"We want to keep our best players, I make it perfectly clear from a managers point of view.
"Whether we can is down to the market and to the player themselves. You want to keep your best players and you want them to stay."

Adam is facing a two-match suspension following his 10th booking of the season against Tottenham in midweek and Holloway has decided to send him to a medical expert to try and resolve the problem.
"Charlie went to see a specialist about something that's happening to him," said Holloway.
"We want to sort it out."
Holloway also praised James Beattie after helping Blackpool to beat Tottenham in midweek, despite the death of his father a week ago.
"He lost his dad last week and still played in the reserves on Monday," added Holloway.
"You wouldn't have known he has lost his dad. It's happened to me, so I know how hard it is. So to do what he did was total professionalism."
Beattie, who is currently on loan at Bloomfield Road from Rangers, has impressed since joining and Holloway believes he is proving to be a key member of his squad.
"He has done so much in his career and we are lucky to have him," continued Holloway. "He has so much strength of mind and aggression. The other night I felt sorry for Michael Dawson when Beattie went up for a header.
"You can make runs off the back of him, knowing he will get the ball to you."
