[h=1]CSKA Moscow U19s 4-0 Manchester United U19s: First Uefa Youth League defeat for Butt[/h]

[h=2]Man Utd U19s suffered their first loss in the Uefa Youth League on a freezing afternoon in Moscow against CSKA.[/h]

Butt oversaw a pummelling in the Moscow cold Nicky Butt 's United under 19s lost their first UEFA Youth League match of the campaign in Moscow, where they were comprehensively beaten 4-0 by CSKA.
The young Reds struggled to get going in the October Stadium and were a goal down after 13 minutes when Axel Tuanzebe handled. CSKA striker Timur Zhamaletdinov put away the penalty.
Despite the sun in the Russian capital the temperature was at zero but United's kids preferred not to wear gloves, like their hosts, and they showed their mettle in a brave effort to fight back.
However without injured prolific striker Marcus Rashford, the Reds struggled to pose a threat in the box. Seconds before half-time Makarov added a second.
Before United could think about a serious comeback CSKA scored again with a second penalty after the interval. Zhamaletdinov was lethal again from 12 yards after Tyrell Warren had handled.
The teenage Reds' spirit had now disintegrated and the Russians were all over them and creating chances. They were opened up in the 88th minute when Gordyushenko broke through and slipped home the fourth.

[h=1]Manchester United legend Solskjaer returns to manage Molde[/h]

[h=2]Man Utd's legendary striker Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has returned to manage former club Molde after a year in the managerial wilderness.[/h]

Manchester United favourite Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has returned to manage Molde 13 months on from his sacking by Cardiff.
Solskjaer, 42, could not prevent Cardiff from sliding out of the Premier League into the Championship last year and was sacked after just eight months by owner Vincent Tan.
The Norwegian joined United for £1.5m from Molde in 1996 and coached the club to their first Norwegian Premier League title in 2011.
Molde retained the championship the following year, when Solskjaer had the opportunity to succeed Alex McLeish as Aston Villa manager, however he decided to stay in Norway.
Solskjaer, who enjoyed a successful two-and-a-half year stint coaching United's reserves, returned to Old Trafford with Cardiff in January last year, when United won 2-0.

The former striker's name is still serenaded United supporters, who will be eternally grateful for his Champions League winning volley against Bayern Munich in 1999.
Solskjaer won six Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Intercontinental Cup during his 11 years in Manchester.

[h=1]Manchester United manager Van Gaal reveals why he played Martial on the left v Everton[/h]

[h=2]Anthony Martial gave Seamus Coleman a torrid time at Everton and Man Utd manager Louis van Gaal has revealed why he played on the left.[/h]

Martial gave Coleman a chasing at the weekend Louis van Gaal has revealed he started Manchester United starlet Anthony Martial on the left wing against Everton in an attempt to shackle Seamus Coleman.
Martial, who made his full France debut on the left flank against Denmark earlier this month, gave Coleman a chasing in the second-half at Goodison Park, where he showcased his adeptness as a winger.
Republic of Ireland full-back Coleman, whom David Moyes wanted to bring to United and was scouted by Van Gaal, also received a yellow card for a crude challenge on Martial in the first-half.
The 19-year-old Frenchman had previously spent his fledgling United career as a striker but Van Gaal, who described Martial as 'multi-functional' when he signed from Monaco, believes he offers a variety of options in attack.

"He can play, in my opinion, four positions," Van Gaal told MUTV . "He can play at seven - as a right-winger, 11 - the left-winger, the striker's position and also at 10, I believe.

Van Gaal offers Martial some advice at Carrington "But he has played in Monaco always in the left-winger position. That is why I put him there against Everton and also because of Coleman. I think he's a very good right full-back so we could take benefit of the qualities of Martial also."

[h=1]Manchester United forward Lingard's 'moment has maybe arrived' - Van Gaal[/h]

[h=2]Jesse Lingard is back in the Man Utd first-team squad and counts Louis van Gaal among his legion of admirers.[/h]

Lingard has made two United appearances under Van Gaal Louis van Gaal has hinted Jesse Lingard is ready to make the step up to the Manchester United first-team.
Lingard was a half-time substitute in United's won at Everton, where he made only his second Reds appearance on the right wing, having started in Van Gaal's first competitive match against Swansea last season.
The 22-year-old Warrington lad's debut was cut short by injury and Lingard was loaned to Derby midway through the campaign, before he played for England Under-21s at the European Championship.
Lingard revealed Van Gaal wanted to keep him this season and the Dutchman believes the 2011 Youth Cup winner's 'moment has maybe arrived now'.
"Lingard's competitor is Juan Mata and his competitor is also, for example, Ander Herrera or Wayne Rooney," he told MUTV.
"Or, when he is played on the left, because he can also play on the left, his competitor was Memphis. So it's not easy to come in.

[h=1]Manchester United: Van Gaal insists City already have derby advantage[/h]

[h=2]Man Utd have travelled to Russia in the middle of derby week while Manchester City have a home game with Sevilla.[/h]

Louis van Gaal says Manchester United have been put at a derby disadvantage by their Champions League Moscow trip.
But the Reds Dutch boss will order bathing sessions in Manchester on their return from Russia.
Van Gaal aims to soak away their Euro toils against CSKA before taking on City on Sunday in the Premier League local showdown.
While the Reds are in the Russian capital in sub zero temperatures the Blues will be back home at the Etihad playing Sevilla. And while United are flying home on Thursday arriving at tea time, City will be warming down at their training base.

"Every club at the top of the league has the same problems. But now Manchester City has a benefit because they are playing at home and that is a difference," he says.
"It is important that it is like that, that you can have the benefit. You have the benefit of the recuperation. Manchester City don't have the travel we have. So they have more rest.
"There is nothing you can do. They have the benefit. We do a lot of things to try and help. We have cold baths, we have warm baths, less training sessions and practise so the freshness is good enough to beat City.
"But first we have to beat Moscow."

An intense high profile derby following a high grade European fixture is one of the problems English clubs face as they attempt to juggle to two top domestic and Euro prizes.
Van Gaal, who won domestic and a Champions League title in one season with Ajax, says the double United achieved in 1999 and 2008 is much tougher to achieve now.
"It is always possible to still win both. I have done that! But I also lost when we were champions in German but lost the Champions League final," Louis added.
"It is harder these days. The Premier League is the most difficult league to win because of the high level of the teams. You cannot beat a team easily. Every team is a challenge. It is a rat race and then you have to play also in the European Cup.

"It is not so easy and that is why English teams over the last few years have not won the Champions League because of the difference in the leagues. There is also no winter break and I think that is the most evil thing of this culture. It is not good.
"It is not good for English football. It is not good for the clubs or the national team. I think you should change it. England haven't won anything for how many years? Because all the players are exhausted at the end of the season. We need a winter break. When it happens I will be happy."
