Africa’s Premier University Makerere, is set to reduce its undergraduate admissions as it seeks to increase postgraduate enrollment to at least 30%.

It will cut undergraduate graduate intake from 14,000 students to 12,000 students.

This is part of the University’s long term strategy to reposition as a research based institution.

This comes at a time when the University is set to have its 76th graduation ceremony taking place from February 24th to 27th

They want to reduce Undergraduate and put more emphasis on post graduate and Research, with this they will have a higher competitive advantage with the likes of Harvard, LSE, Oxford and others.

I thought undergraduate is a requirement for masters degree, whats the logic to reduce undergraduate how will you increase post graduate, poor strategic planning.

Let other universities concentrate and take on most of the undergraduate programs such that once they are done, they come to makerere for only postgraduate

In Uganda we have over 10 good public universities
