Afrikan power in a Eurocentric world BY OUR AFRIKAN BLOOD COMRADE .
Motsoko Pheko

WE OUGHT NO ALLEGIANCE TO EUROCENTRIC OR ARABIC WORTHLESS USELESS INSTITUTIONS PEOPLE OR PLACES .

WE ARE AFRIKAN BLOOD . WE DO NOT DO WHAT NEGROPEAN OR AFROPEAN DO .

We have to find our way forward. We have been trapped in the wilderness of Eurocentricity for far too long. We are not thinking as our ancestors did. We are not as brave as our ancestors. Our minds are colonised. We must decolonise our minds. Only decolonised minds can be an intellectual and spiritual engine to propel us to success and prosperity.

We must design a system of education that is tailored to the needs of our country. That education must equip our country with all kinds of skills and professions our country and continent need. No government will ever create jobs if it does not have a diversified quality education. It is skills that create jobs, not the other way round. A school system that produces students who cannot find public or self-employment is a failed education system. All institutions of learning that offer education that is irrelevant to the needs of our country or continent must be closed down. Our country and continent is full of minerals of all kinds and oil. How many geologists and men and women of science, technology,
agriculture and economics have we trained? Instead this mineral wealth is being exploited by neo-colonial forces and enriching their own countries, at the expense of Africa's underdevelopment and technological stagnation.

We must not allow our minds to be perpetually controlled and used against our own African interests. When the neo-colonial forces control your mind, they do not need to worry about your actions. They do not have to tell you not to stand here or there. You will find your place of servitude and inferiority yourself. They do not have to ask you to enter their houses through the back door. You will go through the back door without being told. If there is no back door, you will make one for yourself. That is how people with a slave mentality are trained and operate.

Until our minds are liberated and we accept our full human dignity and essential humanity, we shall do very little for ourselves, for our country, for our continent and for humanity. Our forefathers produced great and numerous

civilisations and kingdoms whose artefacts are still filling the museums of Western Europe in captivity. There are one hundred thousand African artefacts from ancient Egypt alone in the Berlin Museum. Ghana's golden stool, the symbol of the Asante people, was ransacked from Africa. State coronation swords from Ethiopia were removed from Africa. Two thousand works of art in bronze, ivory, bead and wood were removed from the King of Benin. The Eurocentric forces want to hide the achievements of African civilisations from the descendants of African people, so that the falsehood of a so-called ‘Dark Continent' can be perpetuated.

Afrikan power in a Eurocentric world is the key to our true mental decolonisation. Without the Africentric view of the world, Africans will remain mimics of cultural imperialism and victims of Eurocentric domination that serve non-African interests.

Finding the unmarked trains designated for blacks involved guesswork. Passengers had to jump across tracks, and some were killed by express trains.

Born into poverty and racial segregation in Meridian, Mississippi in 1912, Ted Watkins became a civil rights and union activist and led an anti-poverty agency in Los Angeles, the Watts Labor Community Action Committee (WLCAC). Watkins left Mississippi as a young man to avoid a lynching and headed west to the thriving metropolis of Los Angeles. After arriving in Los Angeles, Watkins began working for Ford Motor Company and joined the local United Auto Workers (UAW) chapter. He rose through the union ranks and by the early 1950s had become an international representative for UAW. Watkins and his wife, Bernice, also became active in the United Civil Rights Committee, a Los Angeles civil rights organization, and the Watts chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

In 1965, the UAW helped form the WLCAC, a community action agency of the War on Poverty. Ted Watkins, with his union and civil rights activism and experience, was the logical choice to head the new organization. Watkins's presence at the forefront of the WLCAC provided an important link between civil rights, labor organizing and community activism. His desire, hard work and organizational abilities led WLCAC for almost thirty years.

Watkins developed a variety of anti-poverty programs at WLCAC. One, the New Deal-like Community Conservation Corps, used teenagers to convert vacant lots into playgrounds and provided educational classes where students learned about black heritage and culture. In the 1970s, the WLCAC became a Community Development Corporation (CDC) with the goal of the economic regeneration of the community. As a result, many of the WLCAC programs emphasized community control of economic resources.

Watkins also spearheaded the community effort to establish a hospital in South Central Los Angeles. Since the Martin Luther King, Jr. Medical Center opened in 1971, it has provided both health care and jobs for the residents of South Central Los Angeles.

Ted Watkins died in November 1993. His legacy, the WLCAC, continues to fight poverty in Watts.

You see that strong look of defiance on her face, she's ready for a fight"bring it on"

You study THEIR books, you go to THEIR schools, you learn THEIR information, THEIR language, THEIR styles, THEIR perceptions, so when you come out of school you can do a humdinger of a job solving European's problems, but you can't solve your own. And then you DARE call yourself "intelligent?" C'mon. That's the height of stupidity.

I have never seen such a divided people in my life! Black caribbeans think they are more superior than Black Africans; black Americans think that they are more superior than black caribbeans and black Africans. Then even among black Africans, there exists a blantant division along tribal lines ---courtesy of colonialism. What is wrong with this picture folks?!? Everything! And we are here on Jamii Forum talking about black unity. This virus of disunity is probably the most dangerous virus worse than HIV which threatens us as a people. I am pleading to all black people all over the world---Europe, North America, Africa, Asia, etc., to please embrace the spirit of oneness, one love and destiny. Africa can never stand in division.
