[h=1]Tanzanians are in a very active political mood, if the debates currently going on in the media, the internet, social places, centres of worship and even in our homes are anything to go by. The political mood towards the next presidential election continues to generate a lot of heat among many Tanzanians. The issue is about the quality of who is to relief President Dr. Jakaya Mrisho Kikwete in 2015 general elections. The year 2015 is the year for Real Change in Tanzania, that is, if Tanzanians themselves take risks to elect the right leaders. Already so many candidates have expressed interest in various seats and positions of leadership including presidency in their respectful political parties. Most of those who have declared or still yet to declare are either politicians serving in the current government or those who served in the previous regimes and also the new young faces. We should not forget that many of these politicians have been implicated in various mega economic scandals that ripped the country of billion of shillings.[/h]Unfortunately most of those who have so far declared interest in various positions in the coming general elections have served in previous governments or have associated themselves with the past regimes. Such people should not pretend to be better leaders now yet they failed to make a mark when they were holding certain key positions, and the key question is what kind of reforms will those kinds of leaders bring now that they did bring before?. Therefore it is vitally important that Tanzanians should not allow themselves to be round in circles by the same leaders and politicians who have failed to put our countries interest at heart. Many of these leaders have shown no morals, vision and attest to the oath they took according to the constitution to defend and protect our countries interest.
In my perspective, records and sources shows, only one individual so far of those who have, declared interest in the presidency can honestly and genuinely drive the reform agendas that Tanzanian masses are yearning for. On my point of view this guy possess necessary caliber and respect to bring together the divided party because he is a true diplomat the country has ever produced. He is always neutral when it comes to blocks within the party. He is economically knowledgeable, who also has good relations with continental leaders. He enjoys international recognition and respect by diplomats, intellectuals business community and world leaders. He is the the current Minister of foreign Affairs and International Co-operation. His name is Bernard Kamillius Membe. He is my choice to succeed president kikwete.
Tanzanians should evaluate carefully the performance track record of those who have declared or still yet to declare interest to run for political office. They should demand that the aspirants explain what they stand for and more so what they have done towards achieving these goals in both their previous and current positions. In practical terms, it is better to expose the real characters of politicians and leaders we have today and a miscalculation will bring Tanzania back to the economic difficulties. It is worth noting that the political leadership and especially our members of parliament over the half century have allowed party loyalty, self interest and sycophancy to replace integrity and merit when it comes to debating and voting on crucial bills for the interest of the Tanzanian people. Why then should Tanzanians allow these unfit and unprincipled people to graduate to hold any public office? What kind of leadership do we expect if we elect leaders who have already failed while in responsible positions? It is not a passion to serve the people or a desire for good leadership that is driving their desire to become public servants or serve Tanzanians but greed and self aggrandizement.
In conclusion it is without doubt that, it will be suicidal to elect people who in one way or the other have been implicated in financial scandals that have affected national economy at large scale. It will be foolhardy to expect meaningful changes and reforms from such people who have in one way or another, taken part in destroying this country. Hopefully, a strict application of the new coming constitution will weed out some of these people who may not pass credibility and integrity test to serve this country. I am optimistic that Tanzanians have a golden opportunity to turn the future of this beautiful country to the better by electing clean and fresh leaders to take them across River Jordan like Moses did with the Israelites. We need to keep our hopes high for good things to come as a nation, and that is the way forward to a Glory land, because 2015 will be a year for genuine change in this country, only if as true citizens of this country vote wisely and intelligently without selling off their votes.
