Tabora. A woman was raped and her two-year-old child defiled at a bar here where the mother was drinking alcohol with her boyfriend.
According to Tabora regional police commander Salome Kaganda,the incident happened at Ngambo on Thursday night.
Ms Kaganda said the woman was drinking beer with five men including her boyfriend who later left them.
She added that the woman continued drinking with the four men who she did not know.
She was totally drunk and then raped.
She explained that the men raped the woman and one of them defiled the child, seriously injuring her private parts.
Ms Kaganda said police were holding the woman. They say it seems there is something she is hiding according to her statements and they are still interrogating her about the whole issue.
Kitete Hospitals doctor in charge Deus Kitapondya said they have received the child and were treating her, adding that she was bleeding profusely.
She needed blood transfusion because she lost a lot of blood.
He said she had also underwent treatment to protect her from infections such as HIV.
