Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has dismissed as “fake news” claims circulating on social media amid growing political tensions within Kenya’s ruling Kenya Kwanza administration.
In a post shared on his official X account, Kindiki rejected the information being circulated, warning the public against believing false reports. His response comes as political debate over his position and relationship with President William Ruto intensifies.
Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has recently alleged that there are efforts within the administration to frustrate Kindiki and push him out of office. Gachagua claimed that individuals close to the President were targeting Kindiki, fuelling speculation about possible divisions within the ruling coalition.
Kindiki, however, did not directly address Gachagua’s allegations, instead dismissing the circulating claims as false.
Government digital strategist Dennis Itumbi also rejected reports suggesting that Kindiki had lost some of his constitutional powers, describing them as fake news. His remarks sought to counter growing speculation on social media and in political circles about the Deputy President’s role and influence within the government.
The denials come as political activity builds ahead of the 2027 General Election, with alliances and rivalries increasingly taking centre stage. The developments have renewed public discussion about the stability of Kenya Kwanza and the political future of its top leadership.
