Kenya 🇰🇪 has been ranked the top user of ChatGPT in the world.

This comes after a new report showed 42% of internet users aged 16+ in Kenya use the AI tool—higher than any other country.

How many people use ChatGPT monthlyThe report showed that the ChatGPT mobile app reported roughly 486 million monthly active users in May 2025.

About 22.3% of adults accessing the internet from 54 of the world’s largest economies used ChatGPT within the past month, translating to the active user base of more than 700 million per month.

However, countries like the United States, the United Kingdom, Germany, and France reported below-average usage of ChatGPT.ChatGPT usage in the US stood at 19.1%, the UK (17.9%), Germany (21.2%) and Spain at 25.7%.The countries with the least usage of the AI platforms are Ghana (12.6%), Russia (10.8%), Japan (5.8%), and China (7.3%).

The Chinese ChatGPT users could be shifting attention to Deepseek, whose global usage stood at 75 million active users per month.ChatGPT remained top top-subscribed AI platform with a monthly usage of 486 million active users.
