A 23-year-old man in Kakumiro District, identified as Tumwesigye John, is suspected of killing his mother, Nyirakabanza Maria, 56, following a dispute over alleged coffee theft.
Tumwesigye, a casual worker, was reportedly found stealing coffee belonging to his father. When his brothers attempted to apprehend him and take him to the area LCI Chairperson, he allegedly fled while threatening to kill anyone who followed him.
The suspect reportedly became angry with his mother for reporting him over the alleged theft.
On the same day, Nyirakabanza went missing. Her body was reportedly discovered yesterday dumped in a pit latrine that was under construction.
The circumstances surrounding her death remain subject to investigation.
