Job Title: Prevention Advisor

Job Description
As a Prevention Advisor you will be responsible for independently providing support services to satisfy the overall operational objectives of the company. You will also be responsible to assist Tanzania staff and partners in meeting prevention targets outlined in its Country Operational Plan. Assist company in facilitating exchange of information with key Tanzania stakeholders. Meet annual Country Operational Plan (COP) and other reports deadlines. Support Government of Tanzania and other key company partners operating in Tanzania on rapid scale up of program activities that support Emergency Plan activities in country. The HIV/AIDS Medical Officer also assists Company staff and partners in improving successful implementation of approved Company HIV Prevention and health system strengthening activities.
List of Responsibilities:
- Provide leadership and guidance to Company and USG inter-agency staff in the development, refinement and revision, and execution of the HIV prevention programs.
- Provide assistance to the Country Director in advising on planning and implementation of prevention programs, including establishment of new programs, resource allocation, and expansion of the government of Tanzania supported programs.
- Assist Country Director with collaborations involving Ministry of Health, National AIDS Control Program and in-country partners and ensures that Company programs embody their needs and objectives.
- Closely monitors specific prevention programs and advises Company staff to program coordinators and officers in addressing and resolving complex program implementation issues and strategic decision-making.
- Assists Country Director in collaboration with Company technical staff in Atlanta and other international bodies engaged in Emergency Plan activities in Tanzania.
- Evaluates HIV program implementation activities and makes recommendations based on the available data.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Excellent English speaking and writing skills are required.
- Working knowledge of prevention activities and for delivering HIV/AIDS services to local communities and target populations in Southern or Eastern Africa.
- Expert working knowledge of the etiology and medical issues surrounding HIV/AIDS
- Expert working knowledge of the issues surrounding HIV Prevention, Care and Treatment.
- Knowledge of USG policies, regulations pertaining to procurement mechanisms (cooperative agreement principles).
- Ability to work with diverse teams.
- Medical Doctor (or equivalent)
- Masters in Public Health (or equivalent)
