Jose Chameleon's Son Arrested in US Over Alleged Domestic Assault

Abba Marcus Mayanja, the 20-year-old son of Ugandan musician Jose Chameleone, has been arrested in the United States over an alleged misdemeanor domestic assault.

According to booking information circulated by a Minneapolis-area crime alert platform, Mayanja was taken into custody by Edina Police on August 14, 2026. The allegation involves an act allegedly intended to cause fear of immediate bodily harm or death.

Mayanja was listed in custody with bail or bond set at $10,000.

The arrest comes months after allegations of violence involving his pregnant partner, identified in Ugandan entertainment reports as Angel. In May, Angel publicly accused Mayanja of physically assaulting her during a dispute, allegations he denied, saying claims circulating online were false.

The couple had earlier publicly shared that they were expecting a child, with reports showing Angel with a baby bump.

It remains unclear whether the latest arrest is connected to the earlier allegations or whether Angel is the complainant in the August 14 case. No detailed police account of the circumstances leading to the arrest was immediately available.

Mayanja is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in court.
