Jammeh Scoops Another Sham Award | African Dictator Campaign for Human Rights in The Gambia UK has written a strongly-worded condemnation to The Management School London in protest of that institution awarding dictator Yahya Jammeh a good governance award. Sham School The school is a US-based distance learning institution, and aims at developing leaders. The award, the rights group has said, is merely a means of attracting media attention, and is horrifyingly misdirected, as it flatters the dictator who is accused of some of the worlds worst human rights violations. In addition, the schools qualifications and certificates are worthless- the award is designed purely to attract the support (and money) of a corrupt leader. Jammehs Newspaper Love Jammehs own state media clearly didnt see through the plot. Their coverage of the award went like this: The Gambian leader, His Excellency Sheikh Professor Alhaji Dr Yahya Jammeh has bagged another prestigious international award in recognition of his pragmatic stance in ensuring good governance, management as well as peace and stability that continues to prevail in the country. The latest award conferred upon the president by the Management School London and BEEC International, global leaders and pacesetters in human resources development and learning, is among series of international accolades the Gambian leader won over the years, in recognition of his outstanding stand in ensuring good governance as well as peace not only in The Gambia but Africa in particular and the world at large. The move, according to officials, was also in recognition of his relentless effort to develop The Gambia . (Daily Observer) The awards echo previous bogus accolades which Jammeh has claimed: In 2008 he received awards for the pursuit of peace from the International Parliament for Safety and Peace (IPSP) in Palermo, Italy. In 2008, Governor Steven L. Beshear of the U.S. State of Kentucky made Jammeh an honorary Kentucky colonel. In 2010, he received the honorary degree of Grand Doctor of Philosophy from the private vocational school International University of Fundamental Studies, which claims accreditation from the IPSP. These are all meaningless titles from sham institutions. Brutal Killer The awards are starkly contrasted against Jammehs brutal regime: He has murdered and imprisoned thousands of business rivals, journalists, civilians and opposition members. He has stolen lands and elections, and rules the country using fear as his main weapon. The human rights group highlighted Jammehs many wrongdoings in the letter, and insisted that the award was given in error, and is an insult to those suffering under Jammehs rule. It can be read in full here: Indicators: Jammeh adores accolades, praise and flattery, and uses bogus titles and awards to boost his personality cult.
