Ethiopia is still authoritarian country, gov oversee everything. Even USA can't penetrate on Ethiopian market, if it was that simple, Kenyans would've been in Ethiopia since 1900s (yeah, 1900s)

It will not be that way forever.
If they want to sell to other countries, they will have to open their market too.

You took the word out of context, Kenya is building Lamu port with an intention to serve the local economy and also Ethiopian and South Sudan. But in order for that project to be profitable, Ethiopia and South Sudan need to come on board. But Ethiopia or South Sudan they haven't commit yet, and they're starting to look elsewhere. Do you still bealive the project Lamu can bring return of investment? What is the credibility of project?.

Importation and exportation is done by businessmen, not the government. In the long run the business men will use the cheapest route. The mistake Tanzania makes is assuming signatures by sitting presidents mean anything on these projects. Lamu Port is going to be modern and very efficient and definitely cheaper. Discussing whether such a port is credible is a non issue.
