Is it right for a pastor (preacher) to be a politician?

We should understand that Pastors (preachers) are good leaders by nature, so they could make solid politicians.

By the way; Who are we to judge?
According to the Bible a preacher (pastor) has more than 50 roles mentioned separately within the bible.
To mention a few:

Deborah was a prophet and a judge of Israel at the same time, David led as a king of Israel, Moses was a leader of Israel and a great prophet.

YOU CAN NOT tell prophets or the men who hears from God what they must do and not do, You are not a Holy spirit; Let the Spirit of God tell them what to do and they will do it. God is their judge and their leader. What He tells them, they must do, even if it's CONTRARY to your belief.

Remember; Jesus was an Apostle, prophet, Shepherd, teacher, soul winer(savior). Yet; He is a ruler (King ) of all the earth.

It's very true that politics is a dirty game as many people say, with this very reason we NEED a godly leader who will stand in the politics.

Politics is not a dirty game, it is those who run the current politics that make it corrupt.
If the politicians are all God - fearing men and women then it will totally revolutionize what we all currently know about politics.

When that happens we will say; politics is a clean game, it carries God's word, honesty, goodness, kindness etc.

Therefore I urge men and women of God(pastors, bishops, preachers, prophets) If God has spoken to you about being a leader in any state's office don't hesitate, go and do it for the betterment of God's people.

Speaking from my point of view Yes it is right for a preacher to be a politician.
It is not a sin anyways.
A preacher in politics is just like the rest of the politicians who are engineers, businessmen, doctors and so forth. It is a myth that we are induced to see that being wrong. But infact a preacher in politics is a way forward for the country’s prosperity for is guided by the Spirit, he/she will view ideas or things from a spiritual aspect in which most cases people only analyse things from the human eyes.

We see a number of people in the Bible who were men of God( served God) and still were government officials.
We see Daniel who was a government official who found favor in the eyes of the King and was kept to sit over the whole realm of governors and satraps and he was put to reign after being saved from the Lions.
Then we see Shadrack, Meshach and Abednego who were wise and respected as high appointed officials in Babylon yet they served God.
Deborah who was a judge and a prophetess
King David who was ruler over Israel
King Solomon
From these people we don not see God being angry at them and not being with them in their Kingship rather he led through their battles.
From that I believe preachers in the government will lead us somewhere further, we know that God talks through his people so having them there is like beinge led by him through divine connection.
With this i urge preachers to take a step forward

Not if political aspect of a society is paramount, and in most cases I think it is as it is normally the main grist to the economic mill . Preachers don't stand the slimmest chance of excelling at politics or any other sphere where rational thinking and facts take precedence over the rationale that is thoroughly imbued with superstition. Moreover, they may not be mentally stout to resist the temptation of being prejudiced against those who are not member of their flocks. They are also not used to having their authority challenged which is a commonplace in politics.

Uko sawa kabisa kwa sasa kubadilika na kuwa na mtazamo tofauti kati ya watumishi wa Mungu na siasa, kwani siasa ni watu ambao ndiyo haohao walio makanisani na kwenye Chama vya kiasiasa.

Hivyo watumishi wa Mungu wowote wanaodhani kuwa wanaweza kutumikia nchi kwa njia ya siasa wajitokeze kwa ajili ya Taifa letu kwani akisimama mwenye haki mmoja ktk Taifa, Taifa hilo hupona.
