Sir,your superiority in Englishdom I bow down to. The embassy issuing a South African birth certificate is not the issue at hand.Yes I did not even research an embassy supplying a south african birth certificate as logistically he needed a birth certificate here!Anyway no need to justify me ,my words,my sentences or my life paths to you.I am not on par with scrupulous bribery hand outs and congratualtions for winning,,visit the casino often,join the luck line.google yourself to luxury and stay comfortable with your pockets of tshillings
 
 

Excuse me if my story has 'holes' .one day it can be a holy testimonial and cease corruption ,leaving full tshilling pockets with holes! I have documented proof of the embassy response to me and full documentation at all the relevant government structure offices of the system.My statements come from fact.
 

Mr. Kahtaan, First let me state the fact that, like you, I was born and raised in Tanzania. And like you, I am educated enough to know that just because a country is wealthy, it doesn't mean that most of her citizens live in Paradise. Case in point is USA where 40 million Americans have no access to health care and the financial crisis has forced many of them to lose their jobs. I also know many citizens in EU are coming to Africa to look for work. For example, There are currently 200,000 Portuguese citizens in Angola and Mozambique alone. I am also aware that there are ghetto neighbourhoods in the rich world that make Tanzania look like a First World nation. There are places I wouldn't walk without being stabbed in the UK, USA or even Canada. I don't expect her to have proficiency in English just because she is from South Africa. She writes like English is her third language. You must agree that English proficiency of South Africans is vastly superior to our own. Just read some of the commentary here and you will know what I mean. Most Tanzanians have a habit of translating straight from Swahili and they assume they will be understood. It is a result of our poor education, another debate all together. I am very aware that corruption is everywhere in Tanzania, just like in most countries. The difference is that in Tanzania it starts from the bottom due to poor wages but in the WEST its starts from the top. The most corrupted politicians in the world live in Washington, DC. They only work for "special interest groups". If you are familiar with American politics, you will know how powerful interest groups are, and the members of congress depend on their "contributions" to pay for their expensive elections. That said, I had all the intention of advising this lady. If you read my comments earlier, you would have notice my sincere intentions. However, in order to ask for genuine advice, one must also be honest about his/her situations. I have wasted my time to try to advice her but as I read her stories, it seem to me that they are full of holes. I have quoted the Ministry of Home Affairs of South Africa saying that they do indeed issue their citizens with birth certificates abroad, something which she said they couldn't help her with. Most citizens of the rich nations get this service from their Embassies. My initial intention was to help her with the best of my abilities. She has deceived us. And yes, when in Rome, do as the Romans.... her supposedly principles will force her to get malaria while waiting for a birth certificate issued by a corrupted official who is waiting to be bribed!!!!!
 

My stories with 'holes' will be holy testimonials to cease the leaking tshilling pockets that you and your friends feed with daily bribes.Excuse me not being on 'par' with talks on corruption!
 
BTW, if this lady is here to start some kind of a revolution to fight corruption, then I would suggest that she starts it in her supposedly country, South Africa. She wants to mobilize the masses just because they would not issue her kid with a birth certificate in a timely manner? PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a starter, South Africa is ranked one of the highest corrupted nation in the world.Half of South Africans Paid Bribes in 2012

I think you need to give her time to explain herself and if you find she is not making any sense to you ! then you have the right to ignore her, rather than attacking her by saying she is pulling the fast one!

Or may be the fasting this holly month OF RAMADHANI could be the reasons!?

Your initial response was that you paid two hundred dollars for a residence pass.So I assumed you were not a resident or born and bred as you claimed.You assume I am making stories of being South African because my English is not on'par' with other South Africans.Then you claim to be knowledgeable on world facts and demographics.Then I am making stories and not following hekp from a googled home affairs website.I did all of the routes like the embassy way before i posted the dilemma I face. Bribery exists everywhere,in top and street levels.so why give me googled stats of my country and bribes?
 

I THINK NOW WE ARE BOTH AGREE ONE THING IN COMMON! In this beatiful country of ours! that "NOTHING GOES WITHOUT A BRIBE"!
And it makes life a living hell especially for poor fellow citizen and guests! and people with faith too, who try to obey GOD ALMIGHTY but the authority forced them to go against their faith!

for example myself!

I am a MUSLIM! and it is one of the BIGGEST SIN to give BRIBE! Unfortunately i am forced to break rules and committing a sin almost everyday because of these bunch of .... who never had enough of anything!

All i can suggest to a lady in question is , Do the best you can and i wish i could help you but i am very far frm where you are and i wish you all the best!

May God make things easy for you and hopefully you will be able to live with your family in peace.

Again, you are not reading my replies properly. I said I paid for my child.( My spouse is a foreign national, and since Tanzania does not allow dual citizenship, they were both living in Dar with a work permit). I was born and raised in Dar Es Salaam. I am more than willing to show my passport here if you are willing to do the same with your "South African" passport. I think the issue here is your supposedly principles of fighting corruption and evil. If that is the case, I salute you. But if you want things to be done quickly in this part of the world, you have to bribe your way through. It is a sad but the truth nevertheless. I can't believe that you had to smuggle yourself in order to get your visa renewed to stay rather than giving some people money to expediate your application. Your intentions to fight corruption are honourable, but be prepared to pay the high price! To me, it is not worth smuggling myself as you claimed you did. It is not worth the life of my child to wait for the paperwork to be completed and expose the child to malaria. I assume you have little funds if you are struggling to pay for your resident permit. Yes, it's not a good idea to pay bribes, but I am not willing to pay the high price like you. I would rather get my paperwork and do other important things in my life than fight a system which is rotten at the core. Am I part of the problem? Certainly. Can I fight the rotten system here? NO!!! As long as people are poor, there will always be corruption in the system. You are fighting a lost battle. If foreign leaders in the west can be bribed, how do you expect a poorly paid African civil servant to resist it?
 

I am Muslim, I do not fast, and I haven't fasted for more than 10 years now and have no intention of doing so now or in the future. (Please save me the lecture!) Besides, having a full stomach is not a prerequisite of thinking straight, having common sense or running a country wisely, otherwise Tanzania would be like Switzerland by now!
 
Thank you for the responses.Yes realities are following bribery routes. Well I am not armed for revolution,who knows maybe this new born soul will in time rise to revolutionise the country of his birth!

After some basic research and talks,i discovered that this new law came into effect to curb a business line of fake marriages,and there was such an operation from Zanzibar.I think however the fee would hardly curb any such intentions.I still think a case needs to be evaluated anyway and in mine,my baby was held ransom ,to expedite my residence permit fee!??

I read all your posts, but I still don't understand the problem and what you want. Maybe, we should go back to your first post.

You said you're a South African citizen currently in Tanzania and that you're married to a Tanzanian citizen.

You also appear to have said that your marriage is legally recognised both in South Africa and in Tanzania.

Then, you said that you recently have a new baby boy born in Tanzania. Congratulations for having a new baby.

You said this new baby is a Tanzanian citizen. I guess you said so, because his father is a Tanzanian citizen.

Now, on the issue of your immigration, you said that your visa was initially extended only for one month. This was done despite the official hospital letter which stated that you were not in good condition to travel.

You also said that you went to the Immigration Office with your new born baby about this issue, but they completely ignored the hospital letter.

You also appear to have said that, nonetheless, they extended your visa until July, although the birth certificate for your new born baby will not be ready until after July.

Now, before going further could you please respond to these preliminary questions? This will help to get into the grip of the problem.

  • When did you arrive in Tanzania and for what purpose?
  • Under what visa did you come with in Tanzania? State the original visa category as stated on your passport/immigration letter.
  • What is the expiry date for the visa you used to enter Tanzania?
  • Apart from the visa extension you were given recently, have you extended or vary your leave to stay in Tanzania before? If so, which visa were you given? Was it the same visa as the one you used to enter Tanzania?
  • When was your baby born and when did you applied for his birth certificate?
  • Regarding the temporary extension you were given to expire in July, under what visa category was such limited extension given?
  • Why your travel is dependent on obtaining the birth certificate of your new baby?
  • Where is the father of your new baby? If he is in Tanzania, do you live together or in contact and is he helping you in resolving the problem?
