When I got a new system it was very good and working smooth as the time passed the system turned to snail. It takes much time then usual then I performed some checks and speed up my system. Just follow a few steps to maintain your computer, help to increase the speed and help to keep it running smooth.
The very first advice to speed up your system is to upgrade RAM if you computer is old and has been many year since you're using it.what you should know and do for upgrading the RAM?
HOW TO SPEED UP MY SYSTEM?
Option#1: Click on Start then Run and type %temp% and hit Enter.
In this window you will find some temporary files, Select all and Delete it.
Option#2: Remove temporary Internet files.
Go to Tools at bottom you have Internet Options(Internet Explorer).
In General tab you have browsing history click on Delete.
The files are being deleted......
Then click on ok.
Option#3: Run Disk clean up
Option#4: Delete installed programs that you no longer use.
Find out the programs that are not usable please uninstall the programs.
Option#5: Delete System restore points and shadow copies.
Option#6: Empty the Recycle Bin
Option#7: Disk fragmentation slows the overall performance of your system. When files are fragmented, the computer must search the hard disk as a file is opened .The response time can be significantly longer. Disk Defragmenter is a Windows utility that consolidates fragmented files and folders on your computer's hard disk so that each occupies a single space on the disk. With your files stored neatly end to end, without fragmentation, reading and writing to the disk speeds up.
When to run Disk Defragmenter
You add a large number of files.
Your free disk space totals 15 percent or less.
You install new programs or a new version of the Windows operating system.

Option#8: Desktop clean up: if you have several unused icons and the desktop is full of items then please run a desktop clean up because it causes to run you computer slow, if you really need some of the icons then you can place it on the desktop and rest you can keep in my documents for safer side and access those icons as and when you require.
