Parts of Kampala were flooded on Thursday morning, September 17, following a heavy downpour that disrupted movement and business activities in several parts of the city.
The rain caused water to accumulate along roads and in low-lying areas, affecting motorists, pedestrians and traders as commuters navigated the affected sections.
In the downtown Kampala Business District, several shops were flooded, with traders forced to deal with water entering their premises and damaging property and merchandise. Several roads were also flooded, slowing traffic and making movement difficult.
The latest flooding comes as business owners in affected areas continue to demand compensation for losses suffered during previous flooding incidents. Traders say repeated flooding is causing significant damage to stock and property, adding to losses already incurred during earlier downpours.
As heavy rains continue to affect parts of the city, business owners are again counting their losses and calling for lasting solutions to Kampala's drainage and flooding challenges.
What do you think is the lasting solution to Kampala’s recurring flooding problem?
