Antananarivo, Madagascar.

Gor Mahia were tossed out of Caf 2016 Champions League after going down by a solitary goal to CNaPS of Madagascar in the return leg played away on Saturday.

CNaPS grabbed the all important goal through Njiva Rakotoharimalala in the first half to cruise through to the next stage of the competition on a 3-1 aggregate win. The Kenyan champions had lost 2-1 in the first leg played in Nairobi two weeks ago.

It was a difficult task for K'Ogalo as they needed to win by three clear goals to advance to the next round. Coach Frank Nuttall admitted afterwards that that early goal disorganized their plans.

“We were in the game on opening minutes but the moment they scored…that goal put us off the mark. We allowed them time to dominate and were eventually punished.”

This is the latest setback for Gor Mahia, who are going through a rough patch at the early stage of the new season. The team is yet to win a single match this season and having tasted defeat thrice; twice against the Malagasy champions and also against Bandari in DStv Super Cup.

In the league, Gor Mahia have only managed two draws - against Chemelil Sugar and Posta Rangers.
