The Chief of Defence Forces and Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has released Brig Gen Johnson Namanya from detention after a meeting in which the officer was cleared of all allegations that had been leveled against him.
According to the acting director defence public information,Colonel Chris Magezi, the two held an amicable and friendly meeting, after which Brig Gen Namanya was officially cleared and allowed to return to active service. He is now expected to immediately resume his military duties.

Brig Gen Namanya had recently been among several senior officers who were arrested as part of ongoing investigations into alleged corruption and misconduct within the military. His release suggests that the investigations found no wrongdoing on his part.
The development comes amid continued efforts by the military leadership under Gen Muhoozi to address issues of corruption, discipline, and accountability within the armed forces.
