A former competitive sportsman and his wife sexually and physically abused their daughter for more than a decade, often locking her in a shed or surrounding her with barbed wire so she couldn't escape.
The girl's father, who had quit his job to coach his children in sports with the goal of competing at the Olympics, abused his daughter for the first time when she was five years old and her mother was giving birth to her younger sibling at the hospital, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The next 14 years of abuse was recently detailed in a 12-week-long trial at the Downing Centre District Court, after which the father was found guilty of 73 child sex offences.

Much of the abuse occurred in the family's shed, an old chicken coop where the girl was often left tied up and without food, forced to sleep on a concrete floor, the court heard during the parent's 12 week trial (stock image)
Her mother, who also forced her daughter to perform sex acts on her and gave her tips on how to please her father, was found guilty of 13 sex offences.
When she was 10 years old, the girl was forced to perform sex acts on her father as she brought him his coffee for Father's Day, the court heard.
According to court documents, the girl can 'recall the offender saying "good girl",' while she performed sex acts on him.
The girl's mother pulled her daughter aside when she turned eight to talk about her sexuality, telling her: 'It makes it better if you make noises, it would make it better for you and Dad.'

As the girl got older her father began to lock her in a sports equipment box and use tools in the shed to molest her.
She continued to thrive in her sport throughout the years of abuse and competed at the national level.
The girl was admitted into a mental health clinic when she became suicidal at the age of 17 and when she was discharged months later, when she was 18, she refused to return home.
After continued threats by her father, the girl told police about her years of abuse.
When officers raided the family's home in 2011 they found etchings in the framework of the shed, according to the Sydney Morning Herald.
The couple will appear in court again in September for sentencing.
