Position: Field Compressor Technician (02 Vacancies)
Reporting to: Process Mechanical Foreman
Duration: Permanent
Location: Kahama, Shinyanga

Responsibilities:
  • Ensure safe work practices, i.e., attending compulsory safety courses and meetings, use of required PPE, incident/accident reporting and ensuring total adherence to all Safety, Occupational Health and Environmental Policies, as well as other relevant policies, procedures and guidelines.
  • Team based Job Safety Analysis completed accurately for every task with a Standard Operating Procedure
  • Ensure the plant operates within acceptable limits and deviations are reported.
  • Adhere Isolation and lock out permits’ procedures.
  • Perform routine, preventive maintenance and repair on all brands of air compressors both oil flooded and oil free, refrigerated, or desiccant air dryer and related equipment. Preventive maintenance should be conducted in accordance with manufacture’s recommendations.
  • Troubleshoot and perform diagnosis on malfunction equipment, determine possible causes for malfunctions and perform repairs as suggested by diagnosis and assessment. Prior to and following preventive maintenance and repair, test and document the proper operating parameters of the equipment.
  • Rebuild and repair compressors and related equipment’s, checking tolerances and wear specifications.
  • Look up parts and determine materials/procedures needed to rebuild or repair units and notify management. Clean and recondition parts as needed, utilizing established method and procedures.
  • Display the ability to absorb a higher level of learning including VCD’s refrigeration, industrial networks, remote monitoring, and air audits.
  • Able to demonstrate a strong mechanical aptitude, read wiring diagram and be familiar with low voltage electricity/electronics.
  • Establish demand planning on service kit for each compressor and make sure parts are available before equipment is due for service. Liaise with maintenance planners and store officer to ensure reasonable stock available all the time.
  • Monitor and record daily running parameters and analyze the Data for performance monitoring and adjustment based on operation demands.
  • 100% Compliance to Standard Operating Procedures for safe work daily –Isolation, Lockout, confined space, working at height, lifting & rigging etc.
  • 100% Compliance to scheduled equipment inspections daily, weekly, Monthly & identified defects reported within the shift.
  • 100% Compliance to Equipment Preventive Maintenance Schedule & work carried out accordingly daily.
  • Knowing and understand type of sling and hitch used.
  • Know and understand load weight estimation, centre of gravity, and effect of angles on equipment. Load turning, knots/tag lines, chain hoist / come along usage, winch block usage and basic hand signals, as applicable.
  • Know how lifting equipment’s are inspected.
  • 100% compliance to completing required Logbooks for Inspection daily, weekly, monthly.
Qualification Requirements:
  • Full Technician Certificates / Diploma in Mechanical and Electrical Engineer from recognized institution.
  • Valid driving licence.
Experience Requirements:
  • 5 Year experience as mechanical/Electrical Technician at a large deep level mine
Skills / Knowledge Requirements:
  • Excellent communication in English, both writing and verbal
  • Hazard identification and Risk assessment
  • Mine health &Safety Act awareness
  • Knowledge in crane & rigging
