Organizational Settings
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) through the funding from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), is implementing a programme “Supporting the Global Health Security Agenda to address Zoonotic Disease and Animal Health in Africa”.

The programme has been implemented since 2016 primarily supporting the Government of Tanzania especially the Ministry of Livestock and Fisheries for Tanzania Mainland and Ministry of Agriculture, Irrigation and Livestock for Tanzania Zanzibar to enhance capacities to deal with endemic, emerging and re-emerging zoonotic diseases along four strategic objectives, which include Zoonotic Diseases, National Laboratory Systems, Biosafety and Biosecurity Systems, Antimicrobial Resistant and Workforce Development.

Reporting Lines
ECTAD Programme Driver will work under the overall supervision of FAO Representative and direct supervision of the ECTAD Team Leader; the functional and administrative supervision of the Assistant FAO Representative and ECTAD National Operations Officer.

Technical Focus
As part of the activities of the FAO Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (FAO-ECTAD) in Tanzania, ECTAD Programme Driver will drive ECTAD Project and representation personnel within duty station and upcountry mission and support other clerical duties as may be assigned.

Tasks and responsibilities
The ECTAD Programme Driver will undertake the following tasks:
  • Drive the country office personnel and their official visitors on official trips, missions, various meetings, on occasions as necessary and other locations in the country
  • Meet personnel and official visitors at the airport, facilitate immigration, customs formalities, hotel check –in, and other local formalities
  • Maintain log book Records on official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, transportation/vehicle related expenditure, servicing, repairs etc including collection of invoices and submission to supervisor
  • Ensure day to day maintenance of assigned vehicle, perform minor repairs and timely arrange for any other repairs necessary to keep the vehicle safe and technically sound, maintain the vehicle clean condition at all times, report defects or damages on time
  • Handle local and organizational formalities when involved in an accident; ensure that in this case all organizational and local/country rules, regulations and procedures are followed correctly
  • Collect and deliver mail, documents, pouches and other communications / items from and to the country office; go to the post office, airport, government agencies, other UN agencies, institutions, project sites etc and keeps records as required
  • Ensuring security of FAO personnel and property while driving, report to radio room as required while on mission
  • Offer Logistical support and perform other clerical duties as may be assigned
  • Performs any other related duties as may be required;
CANDIDATES WILL BE ASSESSED AGAINST THE FOLLOWING

Minimum Requirements

  • Secondary school education
  • Clean Driving License
  • Minimum five years accident free driving experience in an office environment
  • Fluent in English and Kiswahili
  • National of Tanzania.
