Dr Masudi’s major area of specialization is History of Education, but other areas of interest include Principles of Education, Partnership in education provision and, Child Labour and access to basic education. He joined the University of Dodoma from the University of Dar es Salaam where I had worked for 22 years, seven of which as Head of the Departments of Educational Foundations and Adult Education. Among other things, he taught ‘Contemporary Education in East Africa’ for 10 years and introduced ‘History of Education’ as a core course after major curricular review in 2000 which he supervised. He has supervised a number of MA (ED) dissertations and some PhD candidates.

Dr Msudi was appointed coordinator of the first and last Matriculation Examinations in UDOM in July, 2007 and, the following month he was appointed Dean of the School of Education. His first task was to establish a School with its departments and the envisaged programmes. Under his supervision, four departments were established under the School of Education. These include:

*

Department of Educational Foundations
*

Department of Educational Psychology
*

Department of Curriculum and Teaching
*

Department of Educational Management and Administration

Under these four departments, four degree programs were launched. The Bachelor of Education in Arts (BED. Arts) degree program was to be housed in the Department of Educational Foundations while that of Bachelor of Education in Commerce (BED. In concert with the transformation of the School of Education into a College of Education as from September, 2009, eight new undergraduate and 5 graduate programmes have been prepared. Some of the new programmes in the University Of Dodoma College Of Education have made the university stand out as a unique institution of higher learning in the country.
