Veteran opposition leader Kizza Besigye and his associate Hajji Obeid Lutale Kamulegeya are expected to appear before court today, 12 March, as legal proceedings in their case continue.
According to a post shared by the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF), the two are scheduled to be produced before the court in Kampala, drawing attention from supporters and political observers who have been closely following the developments surrounding the case.
Besigye, a four-time presidential candidate in Uganda, and Lutale have been in detention as they face treason-related charges. The case has generated significant public debate, with many opposition supporters calling the continued detention of the veteran opposition leader illegal and unethical.
Besigye was reported missing in Nairobi on November 16, 2024, after attending an event. He was later presented in a military court in Kampala on November 20, 2024, where he was charged with treason and illegal possession of a firearm, among others.
