More than 230 students from the Diaspora are today scheduled to start the eighth edition of the Diaspora civic education or Itorero, dubbed Indangamirwa VIII.
The three-week training will run from July 12 to August 2 at Gabiro Combat Training School in Gatsibo District.
Buses ready to take Diaspora Students to their destination.
This years training brings together more than 230 students out of 500 students who had been registered for the training.
The students were registered at Amahoro Stadium in Remera, yesterday, before departing for Gabiro.

Dr Celestin Ntivuguruzwa, the permanent secretary at the Ministry of Education, said they have received students from 34 countries, adding that those students are expected to bring changes into the community after being trained.

We train the students expecting them to train others when they go back. The young generation plays a big role in the development of the country. The training will demonstrate the contribution of youth in achieving Vision 2020, he said.

They have different ideas that are taken into consideration for the development of the country. The lessons they will learn include Rwandas History, Rwandan values, the culture of self reliance and patriotism.

Elias Tugume, an undergraduate student at Kyambogo University in Uganda, said he expects to learn more from the training.

I hope to learn more about Rwandas history. We are the future of the country. It is crucial that we are told the past about our country to prepare for the future. This kind of training helps the students who have spent a long time in foreign countries to come back to their country. When we are here, we know the truth about Rwanda in various fields different from what we read, Tugume said.

Alphonsine Mutesi, a student at Kampala University, said she welcomes the training as it brings them together to remind them of their responsibilities to the country.

The students will be trained by a group of 90 members of the Diaspora who have been undergoing training as instructors.
