Dear President, a letter from a University student

Where will I be, this time tomorrow?

Dear government,

My academic status is pending. My life and my family depends on the loan I usually received from Loan board. Now I hear that the allocation amount has been reduced to less than 5 digits. I am worried. I cannot go to school yet until I am sure that I will have the loan. Help me please because I want to become a teacher. They can't hire me anywhere until I have my degree. If you, the president of Tanzania do not do anything to exempt us from this trial, you will lose many of us. Dear Mr. President I really want to study. Please do not deny me that opportunity.

Thank you Sir. I hope that your kind heart will feel sorry and help the many of us university students of Tanzania.

I am a genuine student. Yet, I haven't yet received my allocation ever since I was transferred from St. Joseph to Ruaha Catholic University on April.
I have a division 1.16 in form four, but though it wasn't as good in form six, i thank God i got the privilege to take education studies in St. Joseph, taking Chemistry as my major subject.
Now I have grown to love teaching though I was also able to take medicine at Kampala International University with my CCE in Chemistry Biology and Physics.
Now I would love to pursue this course so I can teach the disadvantaged and less privileged children of my country; in the hinterland. My close friends and family can testify of my passion to help people.
Mr. President please? I ask on behalf of everyone a victim of the same issue as mine, please help us.

I suppose you truly mean what you have presented. I understand that you are not alone in such situation. I think it is high time we redefined our priorities in relation to loan allocation.
I expressed my view in one of the threads here maintaining that we should get rid of the so called "Means testing criteria" because it is really impossible to reflect our financial muscles.
Let simply get to a point where whoever gets a chance to join university automaticaly benefits from HESLB. I think we should put more effort on loan recovery so that we increase the ability of the body to provide more loan to students.

I wish I could do something to help you (including others in similar situation) realize your dream. However it is my expectation that our president will respond to your request especially by ensuring that HESLB takes you into account and you get the loan timely and to the required amount.

Yes. You are right.
I also believe that everyone benefiting from HESLB after joining higher education is possible.
I pray that, that is our leaders' dreams and aspirations, even after many years.
To me, higher education is very important. When business fails, I would have something to give me a job.
Much more I pursue the name than something else.
A wise man could correct me in this, Nothing can replace the value of education.
In any case, I have it in my confidence that, I will graduate and so will my classmates.
God loves us. I think he considers us that we love and value our education.
No one can tell what we are facing exactly, but we.
Our academic journey dates far back from 2014 in St. Joseph.
But, our backgrounds shall not determine our destiny, kaka.
I trust God and my government that we shall be helped. Its our right as Tanzanians.
I have no country but this.

Thank you. I give thanks to my mother, who is also my editor.
Furthermore I give glory to God.
I really want to be a teacher.

If possible, niwe natoa vipawa vyangu vya kitaaluma na kimaisha kwa vijana na watoto nchi nzima.
It is true and not a story, that we need a turn up in Education and any opportunity to assist, should not be discarded.
