A Canadian diplomat who allegedly spat in a TV journalist's face in Tanzania is being sent home.
"We regret the incident that took place on Wednesday, Dec. 9, involving one of our officials," Canada's High Commissioner to Tanzania, Robert Orr, said in a statement yesterday.
Jean Touchette, the first secretary at the Canadian High Commission in Tanzania, was arrested last week for allegedly spitting at a police officer during a traffic jam.
He also allegedly spat in the face of a journalist who went to the police station to interview him.
