A thirteen-year old standard three pupil from Githinji Primary School in Kinangop, Nyandarua County murdered his eleven-year old classmate by stabbing her seven times after she allegedly rejected his sexual advances.

The minor murdered the girl, who is his neighbour, using a knife in Magumu village.

Shock and disbelief gripped the village as area residents and relatives tried to come to terms with the bizarre incident even as police arrested the boy.

According to the girl’s mother, Pauline Njeri, the duo had gone to a nearby shop to buy sweets when the incident occurred at around 7:30pm.

The mother said that she was yet to come to terms with the incident adding that the family of the boy, who is being held at Njambini Police Station, were good friends.

The uncle to the girl, Robert Igamba, said that the deceased had deep wounds in the stomach, chest and head.

Pastor John Waweru, a neighbour to the deceased, said they were attracted by screams and on arriving at the scene found the girl’s body in a pool of blood.

NACADA chairman John Mututho, who visited the family, condemned the incident terming it as ‘worrying, painful and unthinkable’.

“The arrested boy should be counseled and investigations done to determine if he was under the influence of any drugs and where he obtained them,” he said.

Speaking on phone, Kinangop OCPD Yawa Chome, confirmed the arrest adding that the boy will be taken to a psychiatrist for examination.
