Hej there
Since its still Christmas, Id like to present the idea of aquatic biomass production, posted some months ago on my personal page, to the targeted public.
Some years ago, I tried to contact someone of Dar es Salaam University by email. But someone didnt pay the bill for the emailprovider or something, because it was no success. There was no onlineforum by that time. So! Hello again!
One of my major interests is finding possible sources for biomass energy. This is mostly theoretical and hypothetical of cause. I like to wander around on world maps in a probability trance.
My research began in the last millennia. One important turning point was seeing the cultivated Azolla in the Biodome of the Norske Folkecenter. If you want to grow biomass for energy, you wouldnt want to feed your plants with mineral fertilizer, because this has to be produced by fossil fuels - a contradiction in itself. Even if you take the resulting biogas for this task, and therefor maybe improve the efficiency of the process, there is still a much higher investion cost demand for this. Mother Nature can manage this problem for us: Azolla is a (thanks to symbiosis with a bacteria) nitrificating organism, and one of the very few free floating plants with this ability.
My favorite sweetspot to setup this biogas generating process in production scale on planet earth is featured here:

You may have questions about this sketch. I can answer them when I have the time, every week or so. Im sorry to tell you, but because there is nothing like this already, you have no chance to attract foreign investions for this unproven concept. You would have to use your own scant national resources. And even this is not possible without a public agreement about the matter. Some politicians may plead for it, others wont. Start the debate.
