Gunmen in army uniform rob Bidco salesmen of Shs30mPolice in Iganga are investigating an aggravated robbery in which gunmen robbed three Bidco salesmen of Shs30m at Kalungami Village along Kawete-Nawandala Road in Nabitende-Kalungami sub-county.

Busoga East police spokesperson Michael Kasadha said the salesmen were intercepted by armed men in a black Toyota Wish while supplying products in an Isuzu truck.

"Two of the suspects wore army-green attire similar to UPDF uniforms, while the third wore a reflector jacket associated with URA. All three were armed with rifles," Kasadha said.

He said assailants abducted salesmen, abandoned their vehicle on road and robbed them of Shs30m and three mobile phones near Mbale Highway.

"The suspects later abandoned the victims at Nawangisa in Busembatya, Bugweri District," he said.

Kasadha identified victims as Fred Kayondo, 21, a driver, Benon Kanonya, 23, and Sali Bugolobi, all residents of Iganga Municipality.

He said victims were found in good health and were assisting police with investigations.

"The Bidco vehicle has been recovered, but no arrests have been made," Kasadha said, adding investigations to identify and arrest suspects were ongoing.

Incident follows similar attack in Iganga where five armed men intercepted two employees of Kombucha Energy Drink in a company vehicle on October 1.

Suspects robbed them of Shs5.51m in sales cash and other valuables before abandoning them in Mayuge District.

Police said some suspects wore UPDF-like uniforms and URA reflector jackets.
