The relations between the United States and Russia is at their lowest point since 1985. Some of the main causes for the escalation are Russia's interference in the 2016 US presidential election and alleged continuing attempts to affect the 2020 election campaign. On the Russian side, its annexation of Crimea and launch of an ongoing war in southeastern Ukraine, plus its support for Syria’s Bashar al-Assad in his brutal civil war, raised tensions with the United States.

On August 2015, Washington has imposed sanctions against Russia’s state-owned arms exporter Rosoboronexport (including Kalashnikov, Uralvagonzavod, MIG, Sukhoi, Tupolev, Izhmash, Rostekh, Vertolyoti Rossiya, and others) accusing it of violating the nonproliferation and missile technology control regime. In accordance with the decision, US companies or government agencies are forbidden from doing business with the sanctioned Russian defense entities, including supply of materials, technologies or services and selling arms.

African media recently exposed that the 54 years old American, Alexander Zingman, was the middleman for at list two arm deals between Russia and African countries. The exclusive information indicates that Alexander Zingman, the New Jersey resident, is breaching US embargo by brokering arm purchases between sanctioned entities and figures in Russia, Belarus and Zimbabwe.

News Diggers revealed photos from December 3rd, 2016, when Alexander Zingman met with the President of Zambia, Edgar Lungu, and Minister of Lands & Agriculture, George Charamba at Lungu’s residence in Lusaka, Zambia. Alexander Zingman and Edgar Lungu met again on January 9, 2017, at the Zambian Consulate. After getting together with Lungu at list three times between December to June 2016, Zingman arranged a meeting between a Zambian delegation and Rosobornexport, which is sanction by the US Department of State, in Moscow on July 2016. President of Rosoboronexport, Alexander Mikheev, took part in the meeting.
Six months later, on June 6, 2017, Alexander Zingman met with the Zambian Permanent Secretary of MOD Strategy, Chibaula (Strduy) Mwale, Zambian Air Force Commander, David Muma, Military Attaché of Zambia in Moscow, Robert Kampachi and President Edgar Lungu’s close associate Valden Findlay in Lusaka, Zambia. Since, the Lungu met with General Director of Rosoboronexport Alexander Mikheev and with Alexander Zingman at Lungu's Presidential Residence. Consequently, on July 22, 2017, Zambia bought five Sukhoi Superjet 100 planes (SSJ100) from Russia at the cost of $31.7 millions.

Zingman was spotted on multiple occasions shaking hands to the Zimbabwean President Emmerson Manangawa and Viktor Sheiman, which are both heavily sanction by the US Department of State, near the time Zimbabwe purchased two Mil Mi-17 helicopters from Rosoboronexport.
On March 3rd, 2018, Zimbabwe Vice President, Constantino Chiwenga, signed a $68 million worth of deals as a part of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for economic development and trade with Belarus Chief of Presidential Affairs, Victor Sheiman. Open-source media photos reveal that Zingman accompanied the delegation of Belarus. Zingman was among the figures that surrounded Sheiman and the President of Zimbabwe, Emmerson Mnangagwa, both sanctioned by OFAC. On March 29, 2018, Zimbabwe delegation visited Russia’s Ulan-Ude Aviation Factory, a part of the Russian Helicopters group, to view the VIP modification of Mi-171E helicopters. Following these meetings, on May 2018, Alexander Zingman finalized a deal with Zimbabwe regarding a sell of two Mil Mi-17 helicopters through the company STAR Strategic Assets III LP.

Alexander Zingman owns a private jet (M-ABEC) which is managed by Smart Jet Aviation in Moscow, Russia. On July 25 2020 Alexander Zingman hosted Mnangagwa on his private jet together with Leya Mnangagwa, the President's daughter in law.
Alexander Zingman is through to smuggle diamonds from Zimbabwe through his connection with a resident of AFREXIMBANK Benedict Omrah and Alexander Zingman’s right hand, Oleg Voldchic which works at AFEXIMBANK. In January 2019 President Emmerson Mnangagwa met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, in Moscow, to discuss cooperation in the fields of oil, mining projects, platinum extraction and diamond exploration, financial issues, and projects in agriculture. Two weeks after, Alexander Zingman was appointed as Zimbabwe's Honorary Consul in Belarus.
Zingman’s new office is located in the building of the President Hotel, which is managed by the Belize United Democratic Party (UDP). On the same floor lies the UAE based AFTRADE DMCC (Dubai Multi Commodities Center), which supplies Belarusian equipment to Africa. DMCC zone excuses residents from tax duty as well. His new position is located near diamond exports and friendship with Mnangagwa exposes him to information about diamond exports passing through the country. According to open-source information, Zingman transfers illegal money to one of his two bank accounts in the UAE, one in Ajman Bank in Dubai and one in FAB Head office - Business Park in Abu Dhabi. In addition, his close relationship with the Benedict Oramah links him with the company STAR Strategic Assets III LP.

It is not surprising that more and more questions are raising regarding this mysterious man. This makes me wonder how come this man has managed to escape the law and remain away from the public eye. It appears that many political stakeholders in East Europe and Africa has an interest to protect him, which in my opinion only proves that corruption is still above justice.
