Those receivers will cost you arm and leg but there is this one called TBS which is used with PC (computer) it is not cheap though, not available in kenya, even if u get one you require 2.4 m and above pf to fell this bird.

kenyan mux on 10e is elusive, i hunted that bird some time back, days after days but was able nab it. it need patience bro. the best time to hunt this bird is 4.00-7.00pm, unfortunately u will not be able to watch them durin the day. Good luck

If the main aim is to get the Kenya Mux, NTV, Citizen, K24 etc, it might be more cost effective, but admittedly not in the true spirit of ASAS, to just slip across the border to Tanzania, grab one of the new AZAM Decoders and viewing cards with a years subscription, the whole thing will cost you less than Kshs 10,000, bring it back to Kenya and connect it up to your dish aimed at 10E and the Azam Channels. All of the Kenyan Broadcasters are together there, except KBC I think.

why go across the border when you still pay the same amount of money to local pay tv like zuku nd dstv.
some of us are FTA enthuasist. why pay when you get it for free?

Registration for Bein sports is only applicable to two humax decoders namely; humax hd- free decoders and humax IR 3000hd decoders.
Humax HD-Free and Humax IR3000Hd shown below;


These two decoders shown are the ones required for registration and NOT any other humax decoder. Initially aljazeera( Bein Sports) were not used to marry smart cards with these decoders but now due to the menace of card sharing across the globe, they have too decided to do so.
To set the ball rolling, they have given their previous subscribers time to register both their respective smart cards and humax decoders mentioned above before 31.01.2014 to facilitate the logistics for pairing the two.

From 01.02.2014 no more registration will be accepted, therefore those bein sports subscribers who will not have registered by then, will still continue to enjoy their subscription untill the expiry date of 31.05.2014. From there henceforth, their smart cards will be Null and Void since they will be required to buy new set boxes with Bein sports logo and new smart cards inclusive already paired. The cost of these new decoders inclusive smart cards will be very costly, thus you better meet this deadline registration otherwise you will be forced to dig deeper into your pockets in future.
In Dubai, humax HD-Free decoders are sold at 299 dirham roughly Ksh 6000, while humax IR3000HD are going for 356 dirham i.e Ksh 7200. Both prices excluding smart cards.

Sure, I am an FTA enthusiast as well, but the cost of getting the Kenya Mux reliably on FTA - for those who cannot get DTT, seems to be pretty high in terms of equipment, particularly if you have to buy one of those special decoders that was discussed.

Take a look at the AZAM channels and decoder, the decoder seems to come with HDMI, and the facility to record on to a hard drive - do ZUKU or DSTV offer that? not for the price AZAM is charging I think, and they have grabbed all of the Kenya private channesl in one place, (but interestingly, they could not do the same for the Tanzanian channesl!). I may not have done my maths perfectly, but I think you will find that the AZAM set up is the cheapest around, compared to the options available in Kenya.
 

Seems 31st Jan will be a new beginning to the B*in Sports restrictions to the viewing of their package added that more will follow as we near the world cup on june....Hope the marrying of their cards wont be HARDWARE LOCKED....keeping our fingers crossed...

 
Intelsat 20 Ku Band Southern Africa Beam

Has anyone been able to lock this Southern Africa Beam in Kenya? the one that carries the SABC 1, 2, 3 channels in HD? Although those channels are encrypted, it is possible to buy a decoder and viewing card in South Africa that lasts forever without further payment. I am getting IS 20 Ku band on a 1.3 meter offset dish, I get Citizen for example, quite well, but that is on the 'Africa -Europe beam' together with lots of other channels, but I cannot get any quality indication on any transponder on the Southern Africa beam, guess my dish is just too small, but I would be interested in hearing from anyone getting those channels.

The Azam channels are on the famous Eutelsat 7A at 7 degrees East, the same satellite that has Digiturk on the Europe Beam, Mauritius TV etc etc
 
I am new here and at kiambu town i have str 4922 and 90cm which fta sats can i enjoy
 
even after getting BBC persia at signal 70% ,I did not manage to get Nat geo channel.it's frequency is at 54 %

If the issue is the kenyan channels then why not go for the FTA CCK approved set top boxes at a one- off price and forget about it forever.
For example a box such as the infant but relatively superb HBox that has got Hdmi port, usb and Pvr functions?
If anything we just need the kenyan goodies for local news and maybe a couple of local proggies!!
 

Of course! - Great solution, Digital Terrestial Reception, assuming of course that you are close to one of the - what is it - 6 - digital terrestial transmitters in Kenya. I think quite a few people on this site who live in Kenya acutally live in areas which at the present time are not able to get DTT, DVBT signals from SIGNET or any of the allied providers, and they are searching for a low cost, preferably free, way of getting the standard Kenya mix from a Satellite transmission. Unfortunately, they do not find it easy! Hence they are keen to see what the possibilites are on satellite. DVBS2

There is a saying, "do not run before you can walk". I agree with the advidce, go for Nilesat 201 and Eutelsat 7W, those sats have 800 channels, 100 or so mostly in english language, great sports, movies etc. BUT, if you are new to the ASAS game, with only a 90cm dish, you are going to have a challenge to nab that bird! - perhaps you are very clever and very lucky and it will all come together. My advice would be first of all, walk before you run, try to tune Eutelsat 7A at 7 degrees East. This is fairly close to Nilesat 201 etc, so you will not need to change your set up by very much. Sure, the channels you will get FTA on 7A are not as great as on Nilesat 201, Eutelsat 7W, but they are watchable, Muvi TV from Zambia, Mauritus TV, often with good coverage of English Premier League (I think). The bird at 7E is easy to nab with a 90cm dish in Nairobi. Once you have done that, you will feel you have accomplished something, watch channels from Zambia and Mauritius and feel good, gain confidence! - then , slowly and carefully shift your small dish upwards very slightly and try to get Nilesat 201, Eutelsat 7W, and tune in over 700 channels!
